Got myself a Wii, few questions

I got lucky and managed to bag myself a Wii from my work the other day. I was planning on getting one eventually but as an opportunity presented itself, i brought one on impulse . A few questions though...

I got it to play Resident Evil 4 (which is on the way) and of course Mario Galaxy . Unfortunately, Mario seems to have sold out everywhere.

What is the best way to link my Wii to my surround sound system? I know its only pro logic 2 so is it just a case of using the audio connectors with the component lead?

Where is the cheapest place i can find an official component lead? Play are selling it for 17.99, any good?

I would quite like to get another controller for multiplayer. Is Wii play (assuming i cant actually find it) still the most economical way of getting another controller?

Im going to be getting a few gamecube classics at some point. Can i play these with the classic controller in addition to the virtual console titles or will i need a GameCube pad as well?

I managed to get a copy of Mario in Zavvi (or whatever virgin megastore is called these days) in coventry on Saturday, and they had shed load of copies left. Problem is the wife won't let me play it until after christmas

I was under the impression that extra controllers by themselves were just as scarce as wii play...
As far as I know the RRP for Wii Play is still only a fiver more, and while Wii Play isn't the best piece of software in the world, it's definitely worth a fiver.

I bought a classic pad, but could never get it to work with the gamecube games, so had to resort to getting a seperate gamecube controller. You might want to get a memory card as well, as I don't think it will use the Wii's internal memory
On the other hand, you can use the gamecube controller with the VC games

Re: Got myself a Wii, few questions

Amazon suggest theyre getting wiimotes in on the 16th and appear to be guaranteeing xmas delivery at the moment:

Amazon.co.uk: Nintendo Wii Controller (Wii): PC & Video Games: Nintendo

Same goes for Wii Play (if you want a few not that great minigames for a tenner):

Amazon.co.uk: Wii Play (includes Wiimote controller) (Wii): PC & Video Games: Nintendo

I found that a generic component cable for half the price works fine. Unofficial memory cards and controllers are often rubbish but cables are harder to screw up IMO...

You can only play these using a GC controller.

As much as i agree with your comments about memory cards & controllers, i'm still a fan of using Official cables, i have had issues with unofficial cables in the past, so now will only use official.

I have the Nintendo component cable for my Wii, but haven't had a chance to try it yet, got it from play.com

Cheers guys. Ordered an official Nintendo cable from Play. Its worth the extra for official accessories i think. I made the mistake of buying an n64 datel ram expansion pack years ago and it been official accessories only since.

Re: Got myself a Wii, few questions

IMO Wii Play is worth finding if you can as although the games aren't brilliant, for £5 extra on the price of the remote it's worth getting if only for the duck hunt style shooting game.

As for Mario Galaxy try Argos and reserve on-line if you can get to one.... I got Mario Vs Sonic this lunchtime - totally sold out yesterday but checked this morning and in stock - tried to reserve it and it failed, but kept refreshing the page and managed to reserve one. I suppose there will be a lot of people reserving games and not picking them up so they become available again - it only gives you until the next day to collect. But keep checking I tried a store a few mins ago and it showed as "in stock" then "out of stock" then "in stock" etc...
