I thought it was a lot better than Double Dash...it's still not as tight as the older games but I enjoyed it overall. The wheel is a lot of fun but I always revert to Gamecube controls if I want to actually win

Very dissapointed. I still think the mario kart N64 is the best followed by snes the ds version
I find it rather frustrating too. I don't play it online but it doesn't seem to play as smoothly as the N64 version and as Lee says it's really annoying when you just get hit over and over again.
"Free speech includes not only the inoffensive but the irritating, the contentious, the eccentric, the heretical, the unwelcome and the provocative provided it does not tend to provoke violence. Freedom only to speak inoffensively is not worth having."
Very samey in single player. Got bored after the bikes really. Played a little online, but naa. With 2 or more of oyu its more fun.
I really enjoy single player when I can stay on the tracks lol but I havent tried online play yet really tempted to go on now and have a look what its like. I wasnt that disappointed with single player and its even more fun with friends.
Like Bazzlad, I've also played them all, however, I was so young when I played the first two games that I can't really remember the handling and many of the tracks.
In recent times however, I've played the N64, GBA and now the Wii version. I'll have to say the N64 was the best for jme as it has the best catch-up logic for the AI characters, however, the Wii version is also very exciting.
The problem with the Wii version is the fact that they've made a whole load more new power-ups which just annoying, there are way too many power-ups, the good power-ups are dished out WAY too often.
I understand the need to allow novice and casual gamers the chance to be able to pick it up and play, however, when you hit 100cc let alone 150cc there should less catch-up and more skill involved, sadly, this is not the case, on ALL difficulty settings including 50cc, there is a degree of dedication you have to apply to this game to get good, which immediately throws the notion of pick-up-n-playability stiffly out of the window.
For me it gets abit boring after a while, but my kids can't get enough of it.
Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?
While I haven't played mine for a while, I thought it was excellent - especially the online racing/time trial comparison. Only downside for me was the width of some of the tracks - makes them feel like motorways rather than race tracks.
The SNES version of Mario Kart was fantastic and will always be my favourite. Though, I am sure if I go back to it, I will be sad. For me, the Wii version lost the magic somehow. I do prefer Double Dash to the Wii version and more than Mario Kart 64 as well. I felt it captured more of the Mario Kart spirit, for me anyway. So hopefully, the next Mario Kart game (on a non-hand held device) will follow a trend and be to my liking. If not, I am sure i'll buy it anyway. >_<
had this game since xmas and not played it yet. all my gaming time is spent on the 360.
CPU: Intel Core i7 2600 3.40GHz, MB: Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3, RAM: 8GB DDR3, Storage: 3.5TB, Graphics card: Nvida Geforce GTX 560 Ti 1.2GB, OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit.
I was let down by the game itself. I loved double dash so much more. I liked the more cartoony graphics in that one. But oh well, better luck on the next MarioKart.
Yeah the AI take the real piss.
Still its a great game with our mates.
Party game, definitely, but Super Mario Kart and even MK64 were far stronger than Wii for single player, in my opinion.
Personally while I quite like a 2 player race I'm not keen on the other competitive modes. I think to enjoy the 1 player mode you have to go for the hardest difficulty and set your targets high (i.e. best rating) and then it becomes good (really good in fact). It's also way more fun with the wheel even though you lose a fair bit of easily had precision compared to the nunchuck / traditional control method
I love the game, loved the original too.
Only things i don't really like are how heavily bombarded with attacks in 150cc and Mirror. And that you can do a 2 player race. Like me vs my brother and no CPU.
Other than that, GREAT fun
