Official Xbox 360 wireless adapter - opinions?

I'll be moving my Xbox 360 into my study shortly, where space is at a premium and so are mains sockets. I'm currently using a Netgear Wirless Game Adapter to connect the Xbox wirelessly to my wireless ADSL router for online gaming. This obviously means one extra mains plug and extra cabling.

Thus, i'm considering buying the official Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter (the USB one). This seems ideal as it's powered by the Xbox itself BUT...the price is extortionate. Hence, before I part with my hard-earned cash, is anyone using this adapter and, if so, how does it perform? Will it cope with WPA security and hidden SSIDs, for example?

I've been using one since I bought my 360, and it connects through my WPA-enabled Linksys wireless-N router no problems at all

I've just seen your post but that was after I had already ordered it last night from Scan. Thanks for the offer anyway.

Re: Official Xbox 360 wireless adapter - opinions?

had a look on ebay for one?

it works fine with wpa as for hidden SSIDs ive never tried but there is an option to specify a network so i assume it would be ok, my xbox is on a shelf in one corner of my house, the router sits downstairs at the opposite end and its fine, i never lag or anything.

i will agree that its over priced though

    *EDIT*

another good place to check would be gamestation for a preowned one i got a live vision camera preowned for a tenner in there ages ago so maybe you can grab a bargain with a network adaptor?

    *EDIT EDIT*
just read the above post! hope it works out!

Got it through from Scan today. It works perfectly, even with a hidden SSID.

Mine works flawlesly, my router is at one end of the house downstairs and the 360 at the other end upstairs. I've not noticed any lag during games or slow d/load speed either.

Are you going to set it up as static and assign ports?

I used the original adapter and found it very slow
