Warcraft 3 and Vista

Hi All,
Thought I'd have a stab at WC3 this weekend - the first time I played it, I didn't have a rig powerful for all the bells + whistles, and I found it cheap in a retailer.

I installed WC3 and there are no problems, BUT, when I try to install the Frozen Throne, it complains about Warcraft 3 not being installed. Anyone tried playing WC3 with the Frozen Throne expansion on Vista?

Try changing compatability on the setup.exe file to XP and see if that works. Could well be just the fact that it isn't picking up the origional installation due to registry keys or the way Vista does things. Or possibly try right clicking on the same exe file and select run as administrator.

Another possibility is install WC3 to where it puts up origionally C:\Program Files.....etc (default installation directory path) so it is not having to look about for the installation

I accepted all the defaults, and it installed it in C:\warcraft 3

Tried all of the other suggestions and still no joy

Try temporarily disabling UAC, especially if the install path is on the C:\ as UAC protects the C:\ over other drives.

Accessible from Control Panel\User Accounts and then Turn User Account Control on or off. Once it's all installed and patched you should be able to turn it on again.

I have solved loads of games not installing that way in the past and patches.
