How do I clean the lens on the DVD drive of Xbox 360?

Is there a way that I can access the lens of the DVD drive directly and clean it with a cotton bud dipped in isopropyl alcohol? I've tried a lens cleaning CD disc (the one with brushes on it) but this doesn't seem very effective.

I am getting a couple of 'disc cannot be read' errors per week and it is sometimes quite frustrating when this happens mid-game.

The only way is to open your console,Then you would need to take the dvdrom to bits to get to the laser lens.I would not recommend doing this unless you know what your doing

Yeah I agree, you have to take the DVD drive apart to be sure of cleaning the lens properly. A lot of dust can gather in there which means the lens will keep getting dirty even after using a cleaning disk. There are plenty of tutorials on the web on how to crack your 360 open if you are out of warranty. If you are still in warranty send it back to MS.

I've been having the same problem with one of my Xbox's
I tweaked the pot on the DVD drive to 3.4k ohms from 4.41k ohms.. there's some tutorials about but unless you're warranty is long gone and you're confident about opening up your Xbox don't bother.. just send it to MS.

Yeah I tweaked mine and a few mates too, it works wonders in conjunction with cleaning the lens. A multimeter is only £10 and it is a pretty simple procedure if you take your time.
