Xbox 360 crashing during mw2

I have an annoying problem with my xbox 360. Started to play mw2 this morning and shortly before it took 20 mins to update the xbox through live. Now when playing mw2 the screen goes all black an White squares with screeching noises then hangand needs a restart. The dashboard and playing downloaded video is fine. No rings of death. Had it since release day so no warranty. Spoke to ms and they had no idea just said it's broken and needs replacing. Seems odd it's happens after an update.

Anyone else having a similar experience?

If your getting all lines etc it could be the RRoD bus has finaly ended up at your stop.

I went and bought a new elite last night from Game with dragon age and forza. I suppose I have had a good run at 4 ' n' abit years seen as I pre-ordered at Currys for release day The £ per hours of fun is quite low!

Now what to do with the old one.

Sounds a good idea I already stream Media from the the pc to this. Might aswell have a spare in a different room.

On a seperate note, after looking round the web there seems to be an awful lot of people moaning about this same problem AFTER the new update. Can't help but think it still got something to do with that. It always sits on a desk in the open due to it being connected to the projector, this gives it fantastic airflow. So i doubt it's overheating.... Anyway thanks for your replies.

Was speaking to a friend about this, he was commenting about how people who made this claim were talking out of their backside as it's not going to be a cause of a completely different hardware failure (on the NXE update)

My Xbox has been in RROD condition for a few months (warrantly run out as it was a launch console, and I would rather just get a new one), those were the symptoms that gave sign that it was arriving unfortunately! I installed the X-Clamp fix on mine too but eventually it came back too persistently that it doesn't work anymore.

But if you ever get rid of yours let me know, I may take the console by itself off you!

I've found that if you're playing via wireless or if your network plays up while MW2 is on the game will cause the 360 to lock up so check your connection if you're having issues.

Could just sell as faulty, there are always people willing to take on a dodgy console and attempt a fix.

The new Jasper ones run REALLY cool so should hopefully outlive the early, scrap, consoles. Hope you got a bargain xmas bundle as I did!

alright 2 start Ive had my 360 for almost 4 yrs now n never had a single prob with it i have it cleaned at the same place about every 6 months or so. I bought MW2 just before X-mass so i have been playin the game for about a month and several times it will freeze and there R verticals lines of white numbers and letters!?! at first it wasnt back 2 back so i didn't think anything of it, and just last night it froze three more times back 2 back all the same way the first time i was playing the game, the second time i was in a party not playing the game n it still came up with a map freeze n the third time i was playing gta. Now i dont want 2 turn my X-box on because im afraid that the game messed it up!! ne 1 with the same problem or got ne answers let me know (foleyd34@yahoo.com)

i would put mymoney on the e74 error on its way,it sound like the hana(upscaling chip) is starting to overheat,its right next to the gpu on the board and is the new haunt with the console,it became quite a problem with the falcon boards and even a few jaspers have appeared with it.
thankfully i think i nthe jaspers its due to poor air around console.

sell it for about £50 console only dude
put the £50 towards an arcade and then sell ya bits onwards

power supply about £15
keep harddrive for ya new arcade,99% of the ones in stores now are jaspers,they had em for £80 in tesco last week
