Natal rumoured to be priced as low as £30

November 2010 release, 5m units global ship, 14 games, and super-low sub-£50 price.

MCV can this week reveal first details regarding the launch of Microsoft's Project Natal.

Our sources say the innovative controller-free 360 camera will be released worldwide in November 2010.
This and other details have emerged following a behind-closed-doors Microsoft tour of UK publishers and studios – the format-holder has been demoing the tech and detailing its 2010 plans in order to spur more development support.

Microsoft is planning to manufacture 5m units for day one release, with a mix of console and camera plus solus SKUs expected.

The device should cost under £50 when sold solo. One publishing source says Microsoft is “trying to get as close as possible to ‘impulse buy’”. Another even says the camera could even retail for just £30.
I expected it to be priced much less aggresively considering what Microsoft charge for 360 HDD's and wireless adaptors, fifty quid with a game of some sort might be enough to tempt me though

    Microsoft dismisses Natal launch rumours

Asked if reports on pricing and shipments for its motion control technology were correct, Xbox UK boss Neil Thompson replied: "No. They weren’t accurate, they were rumours. I’ve got nothing more to say about it".

Pressed on whether Microsoft had decided internally on pricing, he revealed: "We’re still very much in the baking on Natal and there’s a lot of things to get decided on it."
We'll have to wait and see then...
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

As much as I'd love to believe Microsoft would bring it out at the £30 mark is suspect it'll be £60+ at the very least. Definitely looking forward to seeing what some of the more creative developers manage to come up with using it though.

I think this is just Microsoft 'laying the groundwork' so to speak.

They set the scene @ £30 so you get ready for that. Then it leaks that it might be £50, so you mentally accept that (as it's only a jump of £20!) and then it comes out @ £75, but again mentally you accept it as it's 'only' a jump of £25 (from £50!).

Personally, I think this will be sub £100 and circa £75 seems to be the sweet spot for an add on IMO.
