I have finally bitten the bullet and bought a XBox 360!

After a lot of humming and hawing by me for the last 18 months I have went ahead and ordered one of the Arcade 360's for 99 quid. I do not really need all the extras like wireless as I am happy with it being wired.
I might buy a hard drive in a few months if I feel I need one but the built in memory will do me just now.
It will be used mainly for HD DVD movies and the Sky TV package as well as the 360 exclusive games of course.
I feel it will be a great addition to my entertainment set up and looking forward to taking it on a test run.
I must be one of the only gamers in the world never to have played on a Xbox of any kind before and I have been gaming for many years now.
I have always been a Playstation man (still am) but certainly no fan boy.
Both consoles seem to have their strenghs and weakness's and owning both systems plus a decent PC is the way to go to cover all your needs, entertainment, media and fun wise.

A lot of folk have said not to get one as the break too frequently but if I get 2 years out of it at that price I wwill be happy.

Anyway just thought I would let you know, to any one interested

the original ones broke alot, the new ones are fine!

I have an Xbox and PS3, the Xbox is a much better games machine, the PS3 for me is a glorified media centre...

You should get 3 years at least as MS cover you for 3 red lights.
Sent my 2006 manufactured console away for repair to Germany.
Brought it in 2007 but didn't need to prove anything.

Arrived in Germany on Friday, and already on a plane back to me.
Guess it will be a refurb, if it was that quick a turn around.

Sound decision to get one My first xbox 360 admittedly a launch console broke on me twice the second time out of warranty which caused me to purchase a new (jasper core) 360.

Some fantastic games as you must have seen now can be picked up dead cheap for a quick way to get some games together for it. Some really good arcade titles as well!

    Elite @ £160 new

With them now as cheap as £160 new from Sainsbury's may as well grab one I think! That way you can don't miss out on great games on both systems! Don't have to stop playing the PC

To look at the new consoles are identical to the old apart from the addition of the HDMI cable.. It's inside what counts. Microsoft has updated the motherboard with better quality solder and better cooling diversion that means the processor doesn't melt any more

If you can afford the Elite, I'd get it as the HDD space will be useful for future, and IMHO the black console looks nicer. In white it gets dirty quickly, as do the controllers.

Well I have had it for a wee while now and I love it. It has been getting a lot more use than my PS3 just now as I am going thru as many of the exclusives on Xbox as I can just now. The PS3 is not exactly redundant but I think the ""new toy" syndrome kicks in a bit when you get another system.

I would recommend to anyone still on the fence to give it a go and vice versa to xbox fans..

Aye, really cant knock MS on there support on this one, its just over its 2 year normal warranty but due to the 3RROD/E74 errors the extended 3 year has been a life saver
