    Mouse and Keyboard with ps3

Hey I don't usually post on this forum so this may be old news to all you console gamers. But I came across this today. I wondered what all you console gamers thought? Basically it is a device that enables you to use your mouse and keyboard with a ps3. Now before you say that these converters have been made before and are pants, this one is suppose to be different, it is suppose to provide you with a high level of customisation, for example you can control the sensitivity of the mouse well and supposedly you can specify the binds you want, also it is suppose to be very smooth with no lag or jagged movements. Here is a video of it in action (second one at the bottom).

So ... what do all you console gamers think, will you be getting one or are you all misguided and believe that a control pad is better for 1st person shotters!? (just teasing!).

Re: Mouse and Keyboard with ps3

    From a previous post...

    http://forums.hexus.net/sony-gaming/...-cod4-pls.html

Hi, it's already been said that its down to the game developer to add support for mouse and keyboard, much in the way that epic done it for UT, MW2 has no support so the other alt's are the FragFX from splitfish

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCnUokmdq9Q

    http://www.splitfish.com/

I use this and it's very effective, i've actually got the bog standard fragfx and it takes a little time to get used to but does work very well, the only niggle i have is there's no click on the mouse button when you shoot, which you get used to.
The fragfx pro looks like they've ironed out the niggles. My wired version was about £40 of ebay but i reckon the new pro version is about £60.

I was trying The Pit on spec ops mode in MW2 and couldnt get 3 stars with the conroller but did with the fragfx, was playing multiplayer with it and apart from the dire matchmaking system and getting put up against rank 50's it worked well.

Then there is the xfps mouse and keyboard adapter

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WukP8Xbt7FI

http://www.amazon.co.uk/XFPS-RATEUP-.../dp/B0013WI4L6 ***This is similar to what your link is showing, these have a bad rep for being unresponsive. Maybe the newer one is better.**

This is a bit more pricey and you basically map all your controller buttons to the keyboard, the reviews are mixed so have a good read around before you buy.

    hope this helps.

**update - June 10th** I actually use the v2 over the wireless version...the wireless version is big in my hands but the v2 is perfect. Love using this for battlefield. I cant look at the links you have posted (works firewall) but i know there are other brands on the market. With FPS on PS3 i couldnt do without my FragFx.

Fragnstein is the best I've tried so far.

Seems too expensive to enable functionality that really could be added for not much cost. Sony and Microsoft could earn more money if they felt inclined by just releasing an official keyboard and mouse combo.

But it's the games that have to be implemented to offer mouse and keyboard controls, UT is one of the only fps I know that has this, that's why these devices are good.

Re: Mouse and Keyboard with ps3

Maybe so but it has to start with Sony and Microsoft putting mice/keyboard combos out there, or at least publicising that the consoles can use them, for developers to start taking the time to develop games to run on them. Besides there's very little chance of wireless keyboards working due to the driver requirements so console manufacturers could still make money from selling a special wireless combo for each console.

Re: Mouse and Keyboard with ps3

Im not liking the idea of some people being able to use mice. Mice move much faster, which means a massive disadvantage for controller users
