Depends how much space you want, and how many games you have. For example I have some music stored on my 360, and a lot of space taken up by game saves etc
Personally I would go for the 250gb version as you will have plenty of space.
I would go for the 250gb version also, being that there's no place to buy an official drive as yet.
Def get the 250 version, the prices have dropped so much in the last month
The 250. You will need it :)
If I just wanted a 360 for Forza, would the 4gb be fine?
I have a media centre, so won't be using the 360 for storage
It would work fine, but you'd not be able to install Forza onto the 4gb console and would have to play from disk. Not that big a deal, but ever since the install to disk option cam along, I use it for eveything.
I would also go for the 250gb console for future-proofing.
yeah 250Gb all the way tbh, 4Gb wouldnt last very long.
Can I just whack any spare laptop drive in? or are they locked down
Go for the 250GB version. You might think you don't want to download loads of stuff, but when you see the marketplace, there'll be all sorts of demos/games/trailers you want. Plus, Forza 3 (or at least the edition I've got ) comes with an extra disc that has to be installed to the onboard storage. You'll find yourself frustrated with only 4GB to play with.
Yeah 250GB, I've got the 120GB elite and still run out of space with all the game install/arcade/game downloads. the 4GB is just there to show a low priced entry model like the old old arcade
A: "4GB is a woefully small amount of space."
B: "But I'm ok with not installing my games - even though that would make gaming so much more quiet"
A: "So, what about a nice game of Lara Croft, Limbo, Dead Rising: Case Zero?
B: "Oh yes please. Wow, they're great"
A: "Fancy a spot of Battlefield Bad Company 2"
B: "Oo, I love that game. Go on then. Phew, just enough space to install the huge game updates and the Onslaught mode."
A: "Right, we're going to play BC2 Vietnam"
B: "Yay, me too. This is great... oh, wait. Er, I've not got any space."
A: "Delete Limbo then"
B: "But I paid for that"
A: "LOL - 4GB is woefully small amount of space. Better go and buy a nice big HDD"
B: "<Sob> :wallbash:"
I'd buy a 250GB version. Bags of space without the worry.
thanks all. i guess its better to buy 250GB. Thanks for all the comments!
apparently there's a problem playing Halo Reach multiplayer on the 4gb model, it needs to install some data to play but it doesn't recognise the 4gb flash memory as a HDD. So if you want to play Halo Reach online get the 250gb model.
a 250gb becuase you may end up downloading dlc or demos wanting to intsall games you will buy the 4gb it will do you for now but in the long run you will need 250gb prevention is better than cure my friend
Go for a 250gb. You won't regret it ;)
Adam
250GB, 4GB isnt even enough for DLC!
As said before installing games is a must, reduces chance to damage disk... and mainly reduces the volume of the console.
250Gb for sure. You'll regret it if you get the 4Gb version IMHO.
I was wondering the same thing before buying my xbox, but ended up getting the 4gb one because for one, it looks alot better, and two you can use the old xbox harddrives in them, ive got a 60gb one in mine and ive had no problems. mine worked out at £130 including the hardrive and am very pleased i didnt get the glossy 250gb model
250GB version I bought the 4GB version and regretted it almost instantly.
its relatively easy to mod your own 2.5inch harddrive though and get a proper fitting enclosure but for what your actually saving around £10-15 not sure whether its worth even that small amount of hassle.
Did you end up going for the 250GB version? I would definitely going for it over the 4GB.
250GB for sure. 4gb will seem like nothing in a couple of months.
Personally I went for the 250 GB because i end up downloading so many demos and dlc, and I like installing the games.
250gb is better allows for dlc too
Have the 250gb one myself, def go for that
Got the 250gb myself... Only got 200gb left, I know it's still loads. You go through 4gb quite easily and faster than you might think.
250 gb one is a must unless you have money to fork out then you can get the 320gb gow 3 one.nice
did anyone take note of the thread date?? i mean really?
Don't really see the need for 250GB if you own a PC. I've got either 10 or 20GB I've had it so long i don't remember, all the saved games and everything take very little space, unless you are planning to use it as a multimedia stating and get loads of things from marketplace, I'd go with 4GB
250 is a must... 4gb is to little and will not be enough to download demos and other things.
I still wouldn't go for a 4gb model. Most games require updates or have DLC and all that takes up space (as well as the save games).
If you've got a 360 you'll still need the storage space and the 4gb model (like the arcade before it) is almost useless. I found the 20gb launch model to be frustratingly small.
Best Idea is, get the 4GB, as its unscratchable and then either get an external hdd or the 250hdd from the other one...
looks like the initial date of the thread is being ignored so I'll add my 2p.
I had the 20GB Premium model, and while that was fine initially, it didn't take long to use up the space with save games, DLC and XBLA games so you only had room for one disk to be installed at a time. With only 4GB you would fill it in no time, and can't install games without buying additional USB memory sticks.
I upgraded to a 120GB harddrive and it's just so much less hassle - you don't have to worry about running out of space, or having to constantly keep on top of any demos or videos you have downloaded. If you want to download larger map packs for the likes of COD, Gears or Halo you don't have to worry, and you can have several games installed from disk.
The 250gb with out doubt.
You could get the 4gb and use usb drives for extra storage but tbh in the long run it's best to get the 250gb.
the 4gb one i have to admit looks alot better not as much finger print marks nd it matt black with better like grainy texture i've got the 250gb xbox but prefer the 4gb look
I got mine with 4GB and regretted it with the amount of external hard drives I've gone through.
Get the 250gb definitely. Or you'll regret it letter :)
Only get the 4gb if you don't want any demos or don't want to install any of your games.
I got the 4GB last year purely because I had a 60gb leftover from an old console. Even if you don't use it a great deal, it will quickly be used up with all the updates and potential dlc for games. They are cheap enough now anyway, you can get a 250GB console for £130 in store at Comet (if it has stock) or £110 used at Game with a 12 month warranty.
Get the 250GB mate.
4GB is never gonna be enough.
Some arcade games are over 1GB now. Demos are also breaking the 1GB barrier. A few map packs will also break 1GB.
250GB is the best choice.
250GB is ofcourse much better but this thread is from 2010, perhaps someone can close it?
4GB is very little room for a console. Go with 250GB
250gb 100% 4gb is way too small.
250gb even if its only used to keep the dvd quiet with games installed to hdd.
Definitely 250gb.
4gb isnt enough to update most new games without having to delete stuff. With the digital download market growing exponentially, you'd be restricting yourself out of it for the sake of saving a few ££s.
Edit: if only the mobile version showed the started date of threads I would have seen this was from way back in 2010! Still, comment stands.
holy thread necro batman oO
I would go for the 4gb one. You can buy them pre owned for £85 from game.co.uk. Just put in a 2.5" sata hard drive inside. You can by the hard drive cases off ebay for around £3 or you can out the drive straight in just have a search on youtube on how to do it.
Id go with the 250gb also, You will be constantly deleting DLC and old saves on the 4gb. As a bonus you can install all the games onto the HDD for a quieter and sometimes quicker experience.
I faced the same question and went 250gb for all the above reasons.. Glad i did as i have already built up a huge amount of data on it
