help with music, specifically dlna and playlists

I have my ps3 and my netgear readynas hooked up and can play mp3s etc over dlna but I can't work out how to make playlists available in the same way? Playlists exist in itunes and media go but I have also messed about with the exported m3u files without success. I think i once had them working through a ps3 media server on pc but would like to have the nas do all the streaming. any ideas very welcome!
