    Third Party Slim HDD

Just wondering if anyone that owns a 4GB Slim has upgraded system memory using one of the cheaper Third Party HDD's and if so do you play online / not been banned as i read it could lead to a ban, but i don't know the truth in that as i have read nothing official on the matter.

I knew i should have bought the 250GB Slim. Did not realise Forza 3 on its own is a 2GB install + Save.

    Thanks

Officially you can be banned for using a third party drive however, I've never come across anyone that's been banned for doing so.

What Zap said. I know someone who ran a hacked 120gb drive for over a year and was never banned using it.

I don't know how it works for the slim consoles, but for the phat ones you would need a certain type of Western Digital drive, a disk image of your desired size 360 HDD (60gb, 120gb, 250gb) and some software to apply the hack. If you bought a 640gb drive, you'd still only get the size of the 360 HDD image you were using.

I doubt MS will have made it easier to use a non-MS HDD on the slims so I'd expect that's the minimum you'd need to do.

You can buy a Third Party Slim drive from ebay / other sites, it looks exactly the same, it just slides in in like a memory card but its a lappy hard drive i would assume.

I would image they've been pre-hacked using the process outlined above in that case, I'd made an incorrect assumption you'd hack it yourself.

I decided to sell my 4GB version and just go for a 250GB console, i got back what i paid back for it easily and tbh the 250GB's can be picked up for not much more.
