Right I need to smoke, and I know at the moment I leave the room there will be a GT teaser oh well.

Yeah pretty underwhelming.
The stand out game was Watch_Dogs whcih we knew was coming to 720/PS4 anyway.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
Looks like Sony's desire to beat Microsoft has led them to hold a conference that was as dull as the one Microsoft gave last year at E3 2012.
- We never saw the console, you know the thing that you are announcing.
- Despite saying that "Nothing comes between you and the game" Sony insisted on bombarding me with all of this utter BS about peripherals and social media integration. I do not care about PS Move, nor the ability of a camera to sense where my controller is. I do not care about recording my clips, and I sure as hell do not want this "Video Compression" to always be on, eating away at system resources unnecessarily. Furthermore I do not understand why anyone would want somebody else playing their game for them when they are stuck. It defeats the point of a challenging game, or are console gamers far too lazy to overcome challenges anymore, making this feature necessary?
- Speaking of recording gameplay footage and sharing it, I look forward to the way that Sony/Youtube are going to handle all of the copyright claims.
- It seemed like the developers were the main focus of the show, and that is really not a good sign in my opinion.
Very disappointing Sony. Very disappointing indeed.
I for one was pretty excited by the announcements tonight. The hardware sounds pretty impressive - an eight core APU and GDDR5 ram? GDDR5 RAM?!? I like the sound of the quick reboot system, the dedicated secondary chip for downloads (and I'm guessing uploads and all the fancy video compression as well) and dynamic preloading...
Okay, so we didn't see the console itself...
Let me break it to you..
It'll be shaped like a rectangular box with some pretty on the outside. It'll be like every PS there's been so far. No, it will not look like Optimus Prime. I very much doubt there are going to be any surprises in it's shape, size, or even it's colour.
So, to put it bluntly/boldly, so what that they never showed us the console? Surely what matters more are the games that are coming to the console? What all that fancy hardware inside the plastic box is going to be put to use for? As such then, isn't it a GOOD thing that the developers were the main focus of the show? Isn't it what the developers are, you know, developing that's going to be of the most interest to us?
If I had more of a console gamer streak in me, I would be sold based on what I've seen here. As it is, I'm more of a PC man at heart. But, I'm intrigued. My interest has most certainly been peaked. I'll be keeping an eye on this over the coming months... I might be tempted...
Exceptionally boring boring boring launch, even forgetting that they didn't actually show us the console (which I agree, is a minor point really). I barely kept awake for the 2 hours..but I did, as I was just waiting for some new information, or really a coment on the two main questions that we have for the PS4:
1) Will it be backwards compatible?
2) Will it lock games to an individual PSN account (And cause the death of high street gaming shops in the process)
Everything else is pretty much irrelavent - we all know the rest. New (evolutionary) controller with pointless "share" button, unimpressive but faster hardware at least 2 generations behind current PCs, some really good high quality games, improved online/multiplayer/networking...all that was a given.
It was such an unimpressive show that I felt the need to come rant about it here (And again when the hexus news post appears ) when I finally woke up!
1) Not technically, but Gaikai will allow some sort of PS1/2/3 gameplay
2) PS4 will not block used games

The second one has confirmed to not be in. Apparently the patent wasn't for PlayStation, so used games are a go.
Edit: beaten.

Good news thanks for that Rob_B/Terbinator
Now if only they will let us play PS3 games on it then I'll be all set to pre-order one later in the year..that's going to be the final obstable for me! Fingers crossed
Not sure how they will let you play your PS3 games via streaming etc since it's impossible to prove that you own the game - unless it's more a case of you insert the game disk which authenticates for that session..which might work and would do the job from a consumer point of view. I understand the problem by shifting to an x86 system since all existing PS3 games are obviously written for the Cell based PS3..but I hold out hope for an Emotion engine type system that will work for most games, at least on intial versions of the console to aid the transition.
Glad i went to bed instead of staying up for all of this. disappointing launch imo. glad they are moving over to x86 with 8gb of memory. Hopefully games will move forward now
PS3 has plenty of life in it still.
I was just thinking in general terms that both PS1 and PS2 had a 10 year life cycle.
It is not going to happen but what if Sony
a) made the console the size of new slim ps3 (or slightly slimmer) only with cleaner lines / no more than size of sky+ box
b) did a deal with Steam where it could run on PS4 with select titles
c) priced it all at 250.
Would you?
Third world countries will be still buying PS3's long after the PS4 is out, and just because a PS4 is coming out this year doesn't mean the PS3's life cycle is suddenly magically over.
However, it has had it's day and it is time to relegate it to the cheapo option now.
Don't care about the size, Don't care about steam much, price sounds a touch wishful
It is not going to happen but what if Sony
a) Had GT6 as a launch title.
SOLD! XD
