PS4 - XBOX ONE as i do not know what to get atm!
I went PS4 but I miss the m$ ecosystem, friends and controller. Reason I went ps4? I'm a PC gamer so the only things I'm going to get on console is exclusives and ps4 is going to have more of them (naughty dog and a load of jrpgs to start)

PS4 for me as well, purely down to graphics and games. I do like the Xbox but didnt want to pay extra for the stuff that i would never use (Kinect & TV stuff).
I purchased both at launch and ended up selling the Xbox One last month. It wasn't an easy call, Xbox 360 was my primary multi format system last generation but I was surprised by just how much worse things had gotten. It's not a bad system and some of those issues such as Party System/Chat/Invites has since been patched (today), but other niggles such as the incredibly slow Achievement system and how many screens are between you and the information you want.
The interface ultimately felt unfinished and definitely unrefined, especially compared to PS4 where it all feels very measured and unrushed. The one thing that no one mentions but that bothered me immeasurably is the whole demo side of things. Xbox 360 had a demo for every game on there (it was actually intended that way as it was written amongst the original documentation - you must have a demo - and was left unchanged) to now where almost nothing has a demo and those that do... well, you wouldn't know because for some reason, MS, in their infinite wisdom, decided not to link the games pages to demo's.
In its defence you will hear people saying "I don't want to pay for Kinect", which is nonsense. An Xbox One is £399.99 with Titanfall, a PS4 is £399.99 with Killzone. You're not paying for Kinect, it comes with Kinect. What's more, people are judging it on last generations model and they couldn't be less alike. The new one works, has a great camera and has excellent voice recognition. It's also cool just getting auto signed in by sitting in front of your system. You don't need to use it for games but I'm sure some games will do some interesting things however, for the time being, it works very well to navigate *that* interface.
Another thing no one mentions is how one Gold account on a system will carry across all accounts on there, so you only need one membership. This is not the case with PS+ on PS4 (which is now required to play online.)
On the side of the PS4 we already know about all multi format games performing better so there's no need to go over old ground there. The controller is excellent and a massive improvement over the DualShock 3, but it does have an atrocious battery life.
I don't think the difference is as big as has been made out, just weigh up the exclusives and go with whichever interests you most. For me at the moment I think the PS4 is a more complete system, but you shouldn't be put off buying an Xbox One.
The PS4 is hands down the better one to go for this generation. Between it's cheaper price for more power and cheaper online I honestly can only suspect that the Xbone is selling due to customer loyalty.

Whichever has the exclusives your most interested in......which at the moment is probably neither!
I know I will buy the PS4 if I buy any of them, mostly due to Naughty Dog titles and Gran Turismo. Sony also seem to be more advanced on their VR offering, although I'll hold judgement on that until later, I truly believe the PS4 isn't powerful enough to drive 2 images at "next gen" gfx levels.
Microsoft demoing Forza on PC so recently after the Titanfall "Microsoft" exclusive launch also leaves me wondering if they are having a change of heart....which again makes me want to steer clear of the less powerful XB1 for the foreseeable future.

both look next gen but you might find ps4 to have upper hand over xbox one because of its specs

I could not agree more. Us Playstation guys need to stick together. But of course its up to what games you're interested in. Such as if you're a Halo fan, you're going to want the Xbox One, because I believe Halo 5 is being released sometime next year am I right? Then of course there's Naughty Dog, and Sony which make Killzone and Uncharted, and The Last Of Us (Great game by the way). Etc. and etc. Oh by the way the last games and companies I listed were Playstation only. Just thought I'd clarify that.
Infamous Second Son on PS4 has blown me away. A beautiful game with stunning particle effects.
if you want next gen buy a pc i have a ps4 but pc is the best way to go for next gen
