Ok... So this is interesting, another back pedal, enough to steal the Crown though?
also - XBL no longer needed to entertainment apps eg Netflix etc. games for gold gets an extra free game (3) on xbox 360 - not rented whilst you pay your subs ala PS3/4 but keep for ever - XB1 gtes 2 games per month and different titles - if you have both consoles you potentially get 5 free games per month
Well, I'm beginning to regard MS announcements in the same light as political denials - never believe anything until ut's been officially denied. MS XBox UK marketing boss less than 3 months ago ....So, we've gone from ..."[A Kinect-less Xbox One] is not in our plans at all, .... As we've said from the very beginning, we believe Kinect is an absolutely integral part of the Xbox One experience.
- XBOne won't function if Kinect is unplugged, to ...
- okay, it'll function, but we're not selling one without Kinect, to ....
- Hey guys, great news, we're selling one without Kinect.
I have a newsflash for MS. If you produce what people want, they'll buy it. If you produce what you want to sell, lots of people won't buy it. Many will, but you WILL anger a lot of others. This, by the way, applies to games consoles just as it does to PC operating systems. If you try to ram it down our throats, expect us to tell you to shove it. And precisely where.
XBO with optional Kinect? Fine, anyone who wants it can buy it.
A choice of models with or without? Fine, buyers can pick.
But telling us we're getting it whether we want it or not? And can't even turn it off? This will go down in marketing courses as an object lesson in how to not do it.
If you didn't do market research on this, start doing some. If you did, fire whoever did it and get someone competent.
Maybe MS ought to relocate to Silicon Roundabout .... it'd sure make U-turns easier.
I thought they would in the end, they just need to make the XBO slim now. A serious attempt to take back the sales lead from Sony it seems or at least drastically narrow the lead the PS4 has.
Edit: Hmm, the price though is still too high considering you could buy the XBO Titanfall bundle for £349 just a week or two ago.

Dead. They cannot fracture the user base and expect devs to spend any effort on non-common features.
Xbox One really needs to get on the ball.

Ultimate Gamer
But you can get the Titanfall bundle, with Kinect now for £339.99

Find it pretty stupid how they price it at 350. With the rapid decline in the cost of xbones currently i would just wait till its around 250 w/o kinect by end of summer. Not many games out yet that i can't get on pc, only getting one for destiny/halo and cod cause PC cod just sucks.
Will probably wait for the slim and another price drop...or win a competition and get one for free! ;-)
Best
AJ
