    Halo 5 is coming!

So Halo 5: Guardians just got announced for late 2015 release. Steven Spielbergs live action halo series will be released at a similar time like Halo 4 and Forward Unto Dawn. Anyone else excited? I'm quite interested in a rogue spartan bounty hunter like we saw in the art, but anybody have any other theories as to who it might be in the new armour? Chief did take off his old armour at the end of H4, but in the H5 teaser we see him back in it. Maybe the huge forerunner construct is a guardian that gives him his new armour.

Don't count on it - MSFT will be desperate to push more Xbox Ones.

As much as I enjoyed Halo I'm really hoping they announce a new Gears of War one XB1, that might convince me to part with some money..

The main reason I went with xb1 over ps4 was for these exclusives like gears, halo and titanfall

    Re: Halo 5 is coming!

Halo 5 has already been cut in price and pushed out from the best seller/pre-order slot on Amazon's UK game list by Fallout 4 for the PS4? A bit surprising.

Players are lamenting the loss of the split screen option on multiplayer too. The average review on amazon seems to be 4/5 stars at the moment which might be disappointing for MS, which were likely hoping for a perfect score game to shift XBO sales up a gear or two this holiday season.

Actually i just looked at the reviews on Amazon US and it getting 3/5 at the moment which is pretty shocking for MS.. The Engadget review of the solo campaign is doesn't pull any punches either:

Luckily by most accounts the xbox live multiplayer is excellent.

    Re: Halo 5 is coming!

I've completed this and I'm a big fan of the Halo series, Master Chief is the only character in the gaming world that gets me a little excited.

I did enjoy some of the game play improvements but I was really disappointed by the campaign story, there just wasn't any emotion, and the introduction of Locke makes sense a little but Halo has always been about Master Chief for me so I can't say I thoroughly appreciated what 343 industries are trying to do.

His introduction should of been a seperate game altogether for me and not a continuation of the series. I feel left in the dark with this games story, 343 industries and MS have a lot of making up to do for me.

That been said any Halo fan out there should definitely still play this.

    Re: Halo 5 is coming!

It's good, but its not great. 7/10 sort of territory imo.

    The good:
Campaign story is good, and i'm much happier to play as a Spartan all the time again (I liked it personally)
Multiplayer reminds me of Unreal Tournament, and taken for what it is it's very good. Definitely fun.
We finally have "aim down the sights" as an option - even though I quickly learnt that its better to not use this for most weapons
It's a lot of fun to play through, and there is re playability to the main story.
It works really well with the Elite controller, which really does make sense with this game after an hour or so of customising.

    The Bad:
Tiny, tiny multiplayer - its 4v4 for core game modes which is a bit pants tbh. They could have made it 6v6 or ideally 8v8 but hey ho. Warzone only partially makes up for this as its a different game entirely.
No matchmaking for the campaign co-op - so that means I can't ever play co-op without a lot of messing about/pre planning
Campaign is very short - 5/6 hours of play on normal difficultly. 12 missions + 3 "walk around" 5 minute intervals. Bit cheeky of 343 here.
Limited multiplayer playlists at launch..although we've come to expect this of Halo
Campaign mode puts a black border in the corners of your screen - meant to be the "visor" but it just ends up being distracting and annoying. Would have been better as a transparent effect as in previous Halos.
Micro-transactions are still a bad idea and always will be.

Definitely worth picking up, but I doubt i'll play it much for the rest of this year when i've finished the campaign on legendary. 343 did a reasonable job but they made a lot of mistakes that could have been sorted with a bit more time - it feels to me like hey had to get it out in October come what may and that some things had to be cut/limited as a result. Shame really. Worth playing regardless though!

    Re: Halo 5 is coming!

I got this on release and played it for 6hrs 45 minutes start to finish.
It has its good points and bad points as stated very well by *Spud1*

I think one part that really let it down was that about 70% was played as Locke and it pulled itselef away from being Halo and just into another futuristic FPS.
I have played my part and supported the franchise, I am now going to go back and play Destiny made by the true halo creators "Bungie"
