    Good audio solution for PS4?

    So it became painfully apparent this week whilst trying to play The Last of Us Remastered that my current setup was just terrible for audio; crackly, distorted, just... terrible. I'd been plugging my PS4 into my LG M227WD via HMDI and then sticking my PC speakers into the audio out/headphone jack, but I just can't do that any more. As far as I can see there are 3 affordable options open;

    1. Buy a headset, something like the Sony Pulse Wireless Stereo Headset or the Sony Wireless Stereo Headset 2.0, or maybe a good third party option. I'd be leaning towards the Pulse Wireless as obviously they're designed for PS stuff, as well as being able to use them as wireless headphones for any other device with 3.5 audio out.
    2. Buy a new set of speakers with optical input. I currently have some Logitech 230's, 2.1 is all I can really manage on this desk so they'd have to be 2.1 with optical input. I'm not too keen on this option really, my 230's are fine, so any change would be purely for the PS4, there'd be no additional benefit.
    3. Buy a new monitor with a lot better audio. A 24" is probably the biggest I could fit on this desk and it would need to have a DVI in for my PC and at least one HDMI, preferably two. There are plenty of monitors around that seem to fit the bill, like a BenQ RL2455HM is well within what I'd budget for a new monitor (£150-£200) and has the DVI and two HDMI inputs, but I can't find out much about how the audio is other than that the built in speakers aren't great, which is what I'd expect, but nothing on how the sound would be putting speakers in the audio out/headphone jack.

    So, if anyone has some input on what the best solution would be, opinions on the above options, or how they have their PS4's set up, I'd love to hear it.

    Thanks in advance.

    I'd investigate why your current set up is distorted and crackly first - that's a fault condition, so there's no point changing something until you're sure what the problem is.

    Secondly, what's your budget?

    Changing TV just for audio sounds daft to me - better to spend the money on a DAC because TVs tend to have the cheapest sound they can get away with.

    Well I'm pretty sure it's the poor sound quality on the TV, because the speakers are fine when connected to anything else, and the PS4 sounds fine when connected to my TV in the living room.

    Budget-wise, probably about £200 max.

    It wouldn't be purely for the audio, I'd been considering getting a new monitor for a little while as this one's getting a bit old and has developed some very thin vertical lines down the screen, although they're only really noticeable on reds and greys.

    EDIT: For DACs, are there any in particular you'd recommend what would work with a PS4?
