PS4 Pro HDCP 2.2 problem

1st post here, long time lurker just never registered

So basically my oldish Panasonic 4K TV has an HDMI 2.0 port which its spec sheet says is HDCP 2.2 (I can set it to 1.4 or 2.2 in the setup menu).
Problem is if I select auto or 2.2 on the TV 2160p RGB is greyed out on the PS4 and I'm forced to use 2160p YUV420. Keeping it on 1.4 I can use 2160p RGB.


So I either run -
2160p RGB, HDCP 1.4
2160p YUV420, HDCP 2.2

Currently I'm sticking to 2160p RGB, but I guess if I was to use netflix or such I'd need to switch it over to HDCP 2.2 (for copy protection bs).


Something seems wrong to me I'd of thought since my TV states 2.2 it is 2.2 and sadly no newer firmware for the TV

The guy in this youtube vid seems to think its a TV setting that needs changing. Maybe there is something similar on your tv?

Although is there any reason why you don't want YUV420 mode? I don't know if its true but I found the following:

You want YUV for HDR content, not RGB.
hdmi 2.0 cannot pass 10bit HDR signals through the RGB color space due to current HDMI bandwidth limitations. RGB is limited to 8bit at 4K.

YUV is the only colorspace that can provide the full 10bit HDR signal at 4K resolutions.

Unfortunately my TV isn't HDR, a little bit too old sadly.


Strange thing, if I boot into safemode with the TV set to 2.2 the PS4 complains about incompatible resolution and forces me to set the TV to auto.
