    PS5 & xBox Series X pricing

Rumour mill is restarting on the potential price of the latest consoles.
Both are hovering the £500 mark.

But how are they not more like £750+?
How have they been able to keep their pricing down when all other industries have shot up because of Crypto and mobile devices.

People are now happy to spend £1k on a mobile phone, yet a console going over 500 somehow everyone's up in arms about it. And I bet the console would outlive most mobile phones

At this point its better to wait for official prices than speculation, could go any direction

Consoles are loss-leaders. £500 seems very reasonable for the hardware this generation. I'm not up in arms.

    Re: PS5 & xBox Series X pricing

If it is truly backwards compatible, like some of the rumours, and I'm able to play all of the PS3 games I've got but still not played in my library, I might go for this...

    A PS5, I mean. I know I wouldn't be able to play PS3 games on an XBox. I'm not a monster.

    Re: PS5 & xBox Series X pricing

IIRC the PS4 release price was less than the PS3 one, perhaps that's why people are complaining about a possible 500 smackers.

Dunno, people will complain. It may just be good marketing for when it comes in sub-500.

Affects me not, I always hang out for the slim models

Very pleased with the Sony price on the PS5, very competitive, it sure was a waiting game to see who goes 1st.
Would love to know What Sony originally had the PS5 price at (both versions) before the Microsoft announcement.

Turns out the rumours were scarily accurate. I think the prices are very good, I'd be happy to pay 450 for the Blu-ray version. I guess they are going to make most of their money back from the app stores, high priced games & accessories and the subscription

    Re: PS5 & xBox Series X pricing

Won't it be like printers? If the tech is cheap they will seek to make the money elsewhere in the consumables? Or as you suggest some kind of subscription. I'd much rather PAYG for individual titles than subscriptions.

We all appreciate slim models. There are better websites for that though
