    New XBox, strange occurence

    Hi,

I've recently acquired an XBox Series S and set it all up last night. It came with a code for FIFA22, which I input and downloaded.

Now when my son comes to play it on his (family-linked) account, it says the person that bought it has to sign in. Is this normal, or could it be due to not having xbox live?

I'd rather not have to log my account in every time my son wants to play a game, and vise-versa.

On the PS5 we've got, everyone can play any game that's installed without anyone else logging in, so is there a way around this?

Its a common thing, if you wanted it on your sons account then you should have downloaded it on his account not yours.

Sounds like you have it set as Parent-Child rather than just family linked?

Easiest solution is just to have you auto-sign on boot then have him sign-in on his account, keeping you logged in to activate the product?

Might be a FIFA specific barrier as well given the MTX/gambling/spiralling costs element EA were getting dragged for.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Yes, it is set as Parent-Child, that's maybe why. I'll install the next one as him and see what happens...

    Re: New XBox, strange occurence

I thought you just had to set a console as your primary console and any games you purchased became available to anyone using the console?

That's very handy, thanks. I'll take a look

    One more question, Columbo stylee...

My son wants Forza Horizon 5, and it seems to be cheapest at ShopTo for the digital key, is this a legit method of buying games, or do you have to go through the MS Store? Are there any other sites where you can buy (legit) keys?

ShopTo have been going for quite some time now, I'm sure if anything dodgy was happening they'd be long gone, especially as their address is easy to find and not hiding away in some field or behind a pseudo address.
I used them back when boxed PC games were a thing, not for anything digital. I'm also certain they sold hardware for a bit and other things, but they actually sell very little now. I think they were another that took advantage of the Jersey tax loophole years ago.

I have bought loads of keys from shopto and cdkeys and never had any issues. Been using cdkeys for over 10 years. Never had any problems with any key.
