I really hope the BBC give Ricky Gervais a blank cheque at some stage, and a third series can be sorted out.Originally posted by Ferral
Yeah,
Same feelings as Vaul with that episode. Was a really good way to end it. You could see right through series 1 & 2 that Dawn and Tim were into each other. I knew that was going to happen as soon as she opened the gift.
Really is a shame that there isn't going to be a third series, Series 2 was what got me right into it initially
The Office is by far, the best comedy of the last decade, right up there with Fawlty Towers, Fools and Horses, Porridge, Red Dwarf, and all that lot.
See, come Christmas time, now that Fools and Horses has finished (and to be honest, should have stayed finished after they became millionaires and walked off into the sun-set, during the last set of Christmas specials), they (the Beeb) need a new blockbuster. A new 16 million viewers guaranteed type show.
The Office is the only thing good enough to do that - can't exactly see My Family doing it, can you?
I know shows can 'Jump the Shark', and carry on for too long, exactly like Fools and Horses did, and like Red Dwarf did, for the appalling last few series, when Grant Naylor stopped writing as a team, but there are just as many examples of great shows, which when you look back, stopped too early, and its a shame.
The Young Ones - two series. Fawlty Towers - two series.
Had a lot more life in them.
The Office has another series in it, or a few more specials at least. I know Gervais and Stephen Merchant has said that that's it, and with Brent getting a bird he likes (and who likes him), Gareth being in the bosses chair, and Tim and Dawn getting together, I know they've tied up all the storylines; but a 3rd series would be great.
Hope it happens sometime.
imo last show was carpy
but series 1 and 2 ruled

Wasted my time watching the christmas special, I think ricky gervais has lost it, its why he doesnt want to make a third series. Series 1 and 2 were so funny, i used to crap my pants everytime he said something.
I've seen some of his interviews, some of his jokes are just hit and miss, and to be honest, I would rather watch Phoenix Nights, now thats a class show.
i thought the 2nd part was ace. it was really good the way they gave brent a better outlook on life towards the end, and the same with dawn and tim. there wont be a 3rd series - the only related thing the office is doing now is a remake for the us market. this is a decision by ricky, not the bbc who would have probably funded this blatent low-budget moneymaker

Not sure m8 as I have never seen him live, but when I watched the DVD I was crying with laughter, and I had no even touched a drop of drinkOriginally posted by 5lab
friend of mine saw him live in a comedy club - said his act was really quite hit-n-miss, with quite a lot of jokes falling flat. possably they only got the best ones out for the live dvd?
I would recommend it to anyone, even if you did not like The Office. As Skii said, the part about the homosexual animals is quality
Living and dying laughing and crying
Once you have seen it you will never be the same
Life in the fast lane is just how it seems
Hard and it is heavy dirty and mean
I read somewhere (think it was the Radiotimes) that Ricky Gervais had decided himself to discontinue the show.
I don't think the BBC have much chance of getting anymore.
And to be honest, now all the plots have been tied up - it just wouldn't be as good IMO.
Last show was better than the other one. To be honest I think it's run its natural life, and a lot of the small body-language/background scenes that added so much to the humour of previous series were steamrollered over by David Brent being even more outlandish and less believable in these last two episodes. Personally I think there's enough to have the Office continue as a successful comedy without RG/DB through the small everyday situations. IMHO they were more enjoyable last night than the OTT Brent scenes.
to be honest, id never seen the office till the special (the other night)
I'm really p***** off as I was out on sat night so set the video to tape the last episode of the office....it only taped the first half of it, didn't get to see any of the christmas party. I'm going to have to try to find someone who taped it
I thought it was quite good. Got the 2nd series on DVD for xmas so thats going to keep me quiet for a bit!
Wol
Never mind
We have the US remake to look forwards to....
Brent telling Finchey to "F**k Off" was pretty funny........

It was amazing, the first episode not so great but that final episode is one of my favourites ever done out of all the two series.
It was just really great how they tied up all the loose ends and even Brent managed to get a few people to laugh at the end to one of his jokes
