    Hero

If you liked Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon then you'll love this.
Similar outrageously balletic/flying fight scenes, and with real artistry in the cinematography. Still pictures from the coloured themes for each major scene can, and have, been exhibited in art galleries.
Jet Li gives a restrained but powerful performance as "No Name", keeping true to the pace and style of the movie, but all the actors give outstanding performances.
Moments of extreme peace are shattered by moments of extreme violence, but all played out with a poetic grace and visual purity that belies the violence, turning it into a kind of Greek Tragedy (including the Chorus).
This isn't a Fast-Paced-All-Action-Thrilla-Ain'tNinjasKewl-IWishIWasASamurai movie, but a thoughtful story of revenge, loss and sacrifice.
Oh - it also has the Drop Dead Gorgeous Zhang Ziyi, and beautiful Maggie Cheung in it too.

Or if you're like me and thought CTHD was a pile of drivel, then you'll still think Hero's awesome. (no way can these two be compared).

Definately one of my favourites too

Ive heard it's not got a UK distributor, it's something a couple of my mates are thinking of (tying to setup a distri company) - a shame no1's got it when donkeyballs such as CTHD and Matrix are made out to be the messiah of movies!

Yer i managed to get a hold of this movie a while ago. Although the subtitles were a bit off, but it kinda made the movie a bit more amusing. Definatly a movie worth watching if your into those old kung fu films tho.

I wouldn't be surprised if Miramax have distribution rights, they do in the US.
