The sub is 4 Ohms. I can't really afford expensive JL or equivalent subs :p
right, i've decided to go for a slightly less meaty sub to suit my housemates ears, and to some extent my wallet! and i've rather randomly picked one of these a BK XLS 200 from http://www.bkelec.com/ -> bargain basement, after a couple of good recommendations on AV forums, isn't really much info on it apart from that apparently it's put together with an amp and driver popular in the DIY sub world, maybe you can enlighten me Howard? i'll let you know how i get on with it if/when it arrives! :D
That sub does look pretty good, and if people on Avforums recommend it, it can't be that bad. It looks well specified, 200Watts is certainly plenty of power. 17Hz - I dunno whether to believe that or not, it's a sealed enclosure :| Although I'd say it'll provide an excellent low end to go with your Missions, so money well spent!
Here's a spec page:

yeh, that's the page i was trying to link to, hehe :p apparently that is tested in a car park, so i'm not sure what effect that has on the sound, i'm not really bothered with all the numbers though, as long as it sounds good! if it doesn't then i'll just sell it on and get something else (a good excuse to get that SVS monster :p), but from the few people who have one on AV forums i'm not going to be dissapointed.
That will sound good, trust me :p
Enjoy!
I had my DIY sub vibrating my mum's tortoise egg incubator downstairs earlier, she came up and literally screamed "turn that down!"
Oops :o
Well, For watching stuff downstairs, weve got a crappy tv, soon to be replaced by w a sharp widescreen tft, and a teac mini seperate hifi, with bose acoustimass speakers.
In my room, ive got me pc with an ATI AIW card, so i have tv and somethimes my ps2. I ve got my dads old hifi, a trio seperates system, and two massive Spendor BC1 speakers. As yuo can tell, the focus is on music rather than tv :p
Nice headbrace. Decent old stuff does indeed still sound fantastic!
I have some old crap, and if I ever start a home cinema, I want this to play a part :)

No you don't.
Bose stuff is crap. Honestly.
But look at it. It could probably kill someone.
they even make weedy looking subs! and then try and hype them up with fancy marketing :( the girls would all point and laugh at you with a sub like that!
sorry caged, proper men don't use bose!
I wasn't being serious m8 :) I know you pay a hell of a lot of money for what you get, and even then it's nothing worth shouting about. Just paying for a name.
:) so why you not got a home cinema set up then ? you should be sent along to richer sounds, plenty of good quality bargain systems you can make :)
The first stage is throwing out that pile of crap Sharp TV and splashing out on a plasma or a nice Toshiba/Philips CRT TV. Then redesigning the whole living room around a home cinema setup :).
Believe me, if it were up to me we would have had a home cinema setup ages ago. I'm using a Denon UD-M30 in my room which sound superb, just need to convince the 'rents to spend a lot of cash on a decent setup for downstairs.
hehe, ok, doesn't have to cost a whole load of money though, can get a toshiba sd330 dvd player from amazon for £80, a marantz sr5300 from richer sounds for £250, chuck in some mission m7x series or some wharfedales and you've got something that'll sound great for not much moolah. parents suck at getting things done though, so good luck :)
Already got a Pioneer DV-U7
And proper bo it is too :)
