    The Veblen effect.

Veblen good - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Theres been quite a bit of stuff flying about the hifi forums recently about the Goldmund CD player that retails for £6k, when basically its a rebadged Pioneer DVD player that retails for £150. Photos of the innards show minimal changes.

I would just like someone to gige me a technical explanation as to how 1m of cable between your wall and your Hi-Fi is going to somehow "make up for" the tens of metres of ultra-cheap bog standard power cable that actually wires all of your plugs to your mains input?!!!!!

    Lol

Yes that's something that no-one in the exotic cable industry is particularly keen to do
