Question Lens adapters for Fuji s9600

    Hi all,

I'm new to this site and to photography for that matter but could do with some advice...

I own a Fuji Finepix S9600 fixed-lens camera and have been looking into ways of increasing it's capability!

After trawling the internet for various filters and lens attachments I am a little confused..

Can someone tell me the difference between products like the Raynox series of lens attachments for example the Fisheye/circular fish eye, Telephoto, wideangle ones and the much, much cheaper Jackar versions found on sites like ebay? Apart from the drastic price difference.

I imagine the Raynox versions must be better quality, but in what way? How would the cheaper ones affect the quality of exposures and is the price difference really that justifiable?

Any thoughts and advice would be much appreciated...

    Many thanks,

    Brad

quality of the product will affect the image going to the sensor in your camera

    cheap = cheap

Question Re: Lens adapters for Fuji s9600

In your opinion though, is it still possible to use these cheaper versions to create good images?

I mean I'm no Pro Photographer but do want to experiment with different techniques i.e zooming right in to wildlife from afar... or using a fish eye lens to create some interesting shots, and getting to grips with macro photography etc.

Having just acquired my camera funds are low for investing so much on the expensive versions of these products.

Also if I was to start spending hundreds of pounds on lens attachments, surely the money would be better spent on a DSLR and lenses?

    ??

    Cheers,
    Brad

i'm guessing that the main reason you didin't opt for a DSLR in the first place was price, but then they're a different beast to your 9600

sure you'll get away with some good images using the cheaper filters, some of the stuff that will be picked up by some of us will totally go un-noticed by you and others..

if you're going to go around with trying to shoot things along way away with a filter, i'd also invest in a tripod..

Re: Lens adapters for Fuji s9600

    Thanks Bobster,

Well I managed to pick up my camera really cheaply otherwise I may have considered an SLR.. In fact I do have the opportunity to buy a Canon 400d with an 18-55mm lens for £200 which after looking into it seems really good value for money, my only thought on that is that i would then need to buy another lens to get the same range as my s9600. seems like catch 22!

I begin a foundation course in photography this September and plan to then continue on to Uni to study a degree so my needs may quickly change, would hate to miss such a bargain and then really need an SLR in no time at all!!

    thanks for your help

    Brad
