    flash question

    Hi,

I have a Canon 400D with a 580Ex flash. I would like to use the flash off the camera, preferably into an umbrella/softbox. What are people's suggestions - off-shoe cable or trigger?

    Thanks

    Re: flash question

You've got 2 ways of setting the flash exposure - manually and automatically.

Pocketwizards, ebay triggers (cactus, & others), peanuts and PC-synch cords will all trigger the flash only - they won't tell it how bright to fire. This is great where you want the lighting to be the same each time - studio setups etc.

The ST-E2, a 580EX and off-camera cables will all allow the flash to maintain automatic metering. This is great for situations where the light changes often.

    Which do you want?
