    The Pasion Of Christ

What a fantastc film! saw it this evening, shows the last few days of Christ's life, very brutal, very sick, very superb

Its all in Latin and Greek, with English subbies. It is one of the most gorey films ive ever seen. was surrounded by whaling Christians who were shocked at the film. go see it, you may like it. however, helps if you know the story of christ a bit too

You mean there were loads of Christians with harpoons crying 'Where's Moby Dick?' at the screening? Incredible

saw this today , im actually suprised how good it was to be honest , considering i was suffering from lack of sleep and a hangover i followed the storyline throughout the whole film without loosing track, and even with the subtitles it didnt seem to make any difference on how good it was.

quite jumpy at bits and quite creepy at times with a monster(?) and satan holding some sort of child plus some other satan bits if i remember correctly.

(?) - was i sleeping at that bit when a monstor / gorilla thing jumped out when jesus was dropped over that bridge and then pulled back up again. I'm sure there was but I cant see why it was needed in the film as it doesnt make any sense at all.

Violent enough to warrant an 18 certificate, I suppose.

Just got back from seeing it.. It's slightly ridiculous how slow some of the scenes progress, and the amount of scenes that try hard to "touch" the audience is quite astounding, too. However, as far as religeous films go, The Passion of the Christ wasn't too unbearable. I would, of course, prefer something like Jesus of Nazareth or Ben Hurr (although not particularly christ-based).

I'd just like to point out that I'm not religeous at all, the idea of a higher being is ridiculous to me. I do, however, believe in a man who was quite possibly either certifiably insane and/or on mind-altering drugs who quite possibly fed these drugs to his followers. These drugs allowed his followers to see these miracles, blah blah. The idea of a man, I believe - the ideas in the bible, however, are in my opinion, fictional. Just a disclaimer.

I've got to say that this is possibly one of the best movies I've ever seen. The casting for Satan was particularly great, evoking the whole beautiful/terrible fallen angel thing.

The only two things that did make me cringe in the whole film was the Jesus inventing the IKEA-flatpak-kitchen-table scene and the Forrest Gump-alike Turin shroud creation scene. Although the Roman soldiers did remind me of the ones in the Astrix books for the most part, with the exception being Pontius Pilatus.

isnt this the most gory movie ever made? more gory than all though films like hanibal and some others (cant remember there names rite now sorry)
i read somewhere that the actor for christ had a very unlucky shoot for this movie he dislocated his shoulder carrying the cross then on the 'flogging scene' he actually got hit twice by the whips accidently then he caught uemonia (is that how you spell it can someone correct me?) and i dont know if this was a joke but the magazine said he got struct by lightning! hehe

This was the most tedious films I've seen in a long time. The first time I've ever fallen asleep in at the cinema although it was only gor about 15-20 mins don't think I missed anything.

I can't deny that it was well filmed and acted but it was a waste of 2 hours.

Looks like its been mainly non believers so far so here I go...

It's a catholic movie and I'm not just saying that because I come from the protestant side of things but it has to be stated. Gibson is a devote catholic who will only listen to mass in latin or aramaic so that's no surprise. I won't say any more about it on that front or why it is a catholic movie so on with my amateurish critique.

There is no doubting this is a powerful movie for believers in Christ and I would suggest even for some none believers. I initally decided not to watch it for my own reasons after reading some literature about it but I felt such a hypocrite slating the film without actually seeing so along I popped. The sole reason for the 18 certificate is the violence because unsuprisingly there are no scenes with bad language or sexual content but it is fairly graphic although this has been over hyped. I get the feeling people who have called this the goriest film ever arent the sort of people that normally see films with blood and guts neway but it is quite graphic none the less.
The story is pretty close to the Bible (catholic version) with some very random additions here and there. As previously mentioned the scene where Jesus makes a raised table rather than one which people kneel to eat on as if he's setting a trend - What was the point of that!? This is supposed to be a film which is taken seriously and that didn't exactly help.

What you take from this film is up to you. Judging from posts already there are many differing views on it but each to their own. Production wise it wasn't bad - the vistas looked authentic and the mise-en-scene in general didn't look out of place. The violence did look real and would affect people without some stomach.

A unique film - watch if you want some discussion.
