    Kindle question

Not sure where to put this, so I'll put it here

I'm trying to get my kindle sorted so that it displays books in the right order for me.

For example, all the flashmans in the right order.

I don't want to use collections. I don't want to view by title as I would like to keep similar authors together.

Using Calibre, I have renamed the books to, say, "Flashman 1", "Flashman 2: Royal Flash", etc. I thought that that would mean that the Kindle would arrange by Author, and sub-arrange by book name, which would put them in order.

No. There's no discernible order to it at all.

To try and change this, I have removed ISBN numbers, and set all published dates and added dates to that they're the same in case they were being sorted by date. All ratings removed. Nope. Still in no particular order.

Bit flummoxed. Anyone know what internal logic it uses to list books?

    Re: Kindle question

I *think* it sorts by date added.... But TBH, collections are your best bet. Ive 1700 books in mine sorted into collectiosn by author and it sorts by file name fine.

    Re: Kindle question

Ahhhhh... Collection by Author. Now THAT'S a very good idea indeed. Nice one.

OK... is there any way to do that with Calibre, do you know? Of if I install the Kindle desktop app, can it be done through that?

Not perfect, but 100 times better than the (nonexistent) alternative.

    Dear g8ina

    Thanks for the 'Collections' tip.

Now I just have to set aside a couple of days for Kindle-Housekeeping.

Couldn't thank you publicly, that little triangle was missing from my screen, sorry.

    Regards,

    Petra.
