yeah....mid 80's Growing up film....Coming of Age film....although its is BASED in the 50's.
Just superb. River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Kiefer Sutherland....and its just so good, so deep.
4 young kids, in deep America, hear rumour of a kid that's been killed by a train, and they know the whereabouts of the body.....
and decide that to see a dead body is worthy of a good adventure.
They're all from different family's and the lead character, played in adult life and who commentates thruoght out, has a brother who's died recently. This pdeceased older brother was the family favourite, and the kid feels like he has nowt to loose...
the others are from varying backgrounds, of alcoholic fathers, miserable mothers, etcetc
All seems like standard fair....except that Stephen King wrote it, and you can tell, the way the characters drag you in....they absorb you....
a good soundtrack, very good indeed and the DVD allows you to watch the film with no voices, just the musis...which seems weird until you've seen the film and then it makes total sense. Thats a good score, when it makes sense after only one viewing just by music alone. Ben E King and Buddy Holly etc etc...
I wont waste the story....Corey Feldman is awesome, funny and wild, and River Phoenix....jst superb. What a waste of a life
Aaaaany way.....if you get a chance to buy it for about a fiver....you should. It might just be a worthy one for your shelf
I'm very pleased Sair got it....£4 on ebay and you just cant go wrong.
and dont ask about Dolby Digital or sound effects....its Mono...and has no bearing on it in anyway.
First time score: 7/10 Very enjyable if you like the genre....kids growing up.
Watch again: 8/10.....could happily watch again within the week.....
