    Replacement for Logitech Harmony 885

I have used this all-in-one remote for quite a few years now and it is beginning to feel it's age. Some of the buttons have started to stick and the recharge cradle isn't very reliable.

I have looked on the Logitech website and the current crop of remotes all seem to be lacking one thing or another, mainly that the display on the 885 has 8 programmable activity buttons and the best of the current models only has 4.

I have looked at alternatives, including the Gear4 unit run by my Apple devices, and as yet nothing seems to come close to the 885.

Has anybody any experience with this model and / or alternatives? I'd be grateful for any feedback.

If you want to stick to a familiar style to the 885 you can go for the 895 which looks identical, plus the added bonus of RF

If you want something newer looking how about the Harmony One.

Or if you need both infra-red and RF control the Harmony 900

The number of macro buttons is not really a big deal since you can scroll pages so although you may only have so many on one screen you can switch screens to get more.

We also have a 885 and some of the buttons are acting up. you can take it apart and clean the contacts for the buttons and that sorts it out for a while but we are looking to replace ours with the Harmony One

This makes me look like a logitech fan-boy and that's not the case. We tried a lot of different remote solutions before we got this 885 and I have not been able to fault it.

Im a massive fanboy of logitech! . Customer service, build quality, usability - they got it all!

Logitech Harmony One/900 are essential toys if you have more then a few remotes.

Re: Replacement for Logitech Harmony 885

I've had the Harmony One for about 3 years now, and the Mrs reckons it's the best gadget I've ever bought. It allows her to use all the HTPC stuff easily. The cradle seems to have died recently. I phoned up Logitech to ask about spares and they told me it was out of warranty, but they'd give me a 50% discount to buy a replacement dock, which brought the price down to £5.

I really can't fault Logitech's gear, or customer service, they're absolutely spot on in all regards....
