Playing 3D films from PC

Hi guys just wondering what I need to do this?

Today I just bought the Panasonic TX P50ST30B. My pc has a bluray player.

What do I need to watch 3D from the pc? Or do I jsut hook it up and its all go?

Screen will be connected via HDMI to my sapphire 5850 graphics card.

All you need is a 3D Blu Ray compatible software player.

IF the hdmi goes through my amp then to tv does my amp need to support HDMI 1.4?

I have it going through my Onkyo 605 (which isnt 1.4) so I can get surround sound

To pass a "stereoscopic frame packed" signal, the amp needs to be 1.4 also. You can send side-by-side via the amp (although there are only a few reasons to do that).

I have a non-1.4 amp myself and use the 2 "monitors" method to get around it. Mirror one display to the other if possible.......otherwise extend the desktop (although you may then want to use something like UltraMon to stop the mouse going onto the second "desktop"). It seems that until an output is enabled for video, it will not output audio.....something both AMD and nVidia are guilty of not addressing.

Won't the amp do surround sound if you plug the HDMI cable from the GPU to the TV, then another cable from the TV to the amp? i.e. won't it pass through the audio signal?

I don't know if my tv has HDMI out though which I'm assuming is what I need?

This is getting more complicated than I thought lol. Also my graphics card is only HDMI 1.3! FFS! lol

No, not pass-thru...


Basically, multiple monitor. Your gfx card has 2 outputs....One display is the TV, the other display is the amp.
