Nice Little 5.1 Dolby Cinema Setup, but duff sub??

Hey guys, i decided (if anyone read my 5.1 dvd input post) i mentioned a system for £49.90 from Tschibo. I decided to buy this system.

Very nice, i can totally recommend it, however the Subwoofer although looking nice and has a big hole for bass to come from, does not seem to be doing a damn thing even on top settings... maybe this is because i have the speakers in proglogic mode as my dvd player dont do 5.1 analog outs, and the speakers wont support Digital Out. So what do u guys think? Im thinking the sub needs to be powered by the separate connector for it, from a dvd player boasting analog connections.

    Any Ideas?

Try hooking each set of channels up to the stereo pair If you only have stereo out, then your only going to get a stereo source from surround speakers (without a prologic processor or similar).

I can't, i only have a Audio L/R output on the dvd so there is no room to hookup each channel. What I'm after knowing is if the subwoofer will pick up bass once I give it its own seperate connection from the dvd player, coz atm its not doing much bass whatsoever.

I know you only have 2 channels - but unplug them, then try the other two sets of inputs (I know it'll sound dodgy but it can test every speaker ). That way you can deturmin if its send speaker back time or buy new 6ch DVD player

Thats a good idea, but the Subwoofer is 20W RMS, and it has a big hole for where bass can be produced from, yet even on max volume hardly any bass is produced! 20W isnt as good as many, but I had a 17W Creative Woofer once and it was lovely and bassy, this thing aint doing much, do u think its the stereo upmix via Pro Logic that is killing the bass the woofer is meant to produce? Surely a 20W Woofer can do some howling? Or does it need to be in 5.1 DVD Connection mode to woof at 20W?

    Did you try my idea?

Yeah, most cube setups have around a 20W Woofer and its plenty.

So it'll produce plenty of bass if given its own connection?
