OK, bit of a hypothetical here, but during my recent house move I rescued my old DAB/CD system. It's not great, but from memory it has a really nice crisp sound. I love it to bits, but it has one major downside - no line in.
Now, I could just stick it in the kitchen to listen to the cricket on, but I got to thinking: if the sound quality was as good as I remember, then perhaps what I really want to do is use the speakers for my PC and forget about the DAB bit (since I have a portable DAB and I can get internet radio on my phone). However, that would require sourcing an amplifier for them.
So last night I dug the speakers out of their box to check the specs on them, and was mildly surprised to find that they're 4ohm, 8watt rms. So, my question is: does anyone know of a good quality low ouput stereo amp I could power them with? I'm not convinced that 2x8W @ 4O is that common a specification
EDIT: or am I looking at an electronics project...?
