Improving the Sound Quality on my PC

So I was thinking that now I've got my X-Fi emulation and Creative speakers, perhaps the next thing I need to get sorted are my SATA Cables.

What do you reckon guys, worthwhile investment or not?

Re: Improving the Sound Quality on my PC

oh I MUST Have those to complement my mains voltage cleaning device.

and the £100+ Monster Cable HDMI cables I have the improve the picture to my HD projector...

but I must remember to remove some of the HD content from my hard drive as it's starting to weigh quite a lot and may effect the spin speed intertia of the platters in my SSD drive.

    Is it April already?

Re: Improving the Sound Quality on my PC

Looking at that seriously makes me want to start a 'premium av cabling' company in my back shed and flog bits of braided wire for hundreds of pounds. I can't imagine the overheads are very big and all you'll need to do is braid some cables once an order comes in. It's pretty clear there is a market out there.

Re: Improving the Sound Quality on my PC

I think that premium quality cables of that type can add to sound quality and I have added them to my "must have list".

I have added them a little below those £100k B&W speakers I've got my eye on, the £50k amps and the £3k headphones. And, they're a little below a pre-bought 25-year set of P&O world cruises, a new (full-size) helicopter, a few country estates dotted round the world, a fleet of Ferraris at each estate and a private Caribbean Island (to 'get away' from all the other luxury homes).

Oh, and funding a cure for cancer and finding a way to achieve world peace. And getting the moon on a stick, wrapped up in pink ribbon (for the wife, y'know).

But they're on my list .... of idiotic things to do with my money once I've got so much of it that I couldn't possibly spend it in a dozen lifetimes.

The thing about a premium product like this, is if your running a striped or mirrored RAID, you need only upgrade one drive to be able to get the full benefits offered by this cable.

Re: Improving the Sound Quality on my PC

    A few options exist

    1) Install a separate sound card and bypass the onboard chip
    2) As 1 but a card that has a digital output and also add a separate DAC
    3) As 1 or 2 but use a USB card so you dont have to open the box

1/2 are the most reliable solutions as USB can be a bit flaky with sound devices

Specifics depend on your budget and how much faffing around you want to do with
    your PC internals..

Found the Higgs Boson. The boys at CERN must using cheezy cabling on their Hadron Collider. When I cabled up my Ronco Home Particle Accelerator and replaced the stock cabling with these, I found the elusive Higgs Boson within 30 minutes. Unfortunately it worked so well that the darn thing sprung a leak and there are Higgs Bosons all over my basement (they have somewhat of a nasty smell to them so the wife is pissed). I called the boys at CERN and they aggreed to swap all the mixuns for White Russians as well a Blu-Ray DVD of The Big Labowski for all of the Higgs that they can vacuum up.
I can confirm this is true. Saved us a lot of fuss and bother with all that 27-kilometre long particle accelerator nonsense. Nowadays when we want to find a Higgs boson we just train a dog to search out their distinctive smell.
