    Looking for a 5.1 Soundbar

I have decided it would be worth getting a small(ish) Soundbar for my PC to use under my monitor, I want it to offer a virtual 5.1 experience.

I am considering the Asus Cine5 but don't really know that much about it, I have around a £100 budget, can anyone tell me if the Cine5 is ok or tell me of anything else that might be suitable in my price range?

Why not a proper 5.1 sound system?

A few reasons but the main ones are I don't want cables everywhere and I don't have the space. A sound bar is discrete and convenient.

Re: Looking for a 5.1 Soundbar

I spent a lot of time looking at soundbars; I didn't particularly want a sub. as I don't like too much bass and don't have the space for one. Eventually I bought an AV Receiver/speaker package and didn't use the sub. and kept the small speakers close together (rather ruins the surround sound!).
If I'd not wanted the AVR, I was going toget this:

as it got good reviews and was the neatest of the better soundbars.

I think I might have to pop into a Richer Sounds and see what they have to offer, it will be mounted in front of my monitor so I really need it to be small enough to fit without blocking the screen and no wider than the monitor or not so deep that I can't get my keyboard in front without losing space to rest my hands, so far everything I've seen only meets two out of three of my requirements.

Re: Looking for a 5.1 Soundbar

I just recently spotted a Packard Bell 5.1 Digital Home Theatre speaker set being used in by a friend of a friend, I was impressed with the way the set came with rear speaker stands that concealed the speaker cable by channelling them up the centre of the stands, so using something like this I would be able to run my cables along the wall to one side of the room and then along the wall behind me to be able to position the speakers at just the right height and a good distance apart with hardly any cables showing.

Does anyone know of a better brand of speakers that will allow me to do something like that?
