City of God. Won Cannes thingys.

Watched it last night (dvd from blockbuster), and although there are subtitles, it is simply a fantastic film.

Some bits are pretty grim and unpleasant, but the film is Full of action. It's an amazzing look into how some people live. (it's based on a true story)

It's based in Rio De Janero and is about this slum (or rather the people who live in the slum) where all the homeless people got sent.

It has been dubbed 'The Brazillian Goodfellas' or somthing along those lines. Is it set in Brazil? Can't quite remember.

yeah i think that's where it is. top notch. you must watch it i want to watch it again, but we gotta take the dvd back...

Its a 5 Star film so i will have to get round to watching it some day. Foreign films are better with subtitles than being dubbed - thats what I have heard tons of people saying.

yeah it's really cool, you get to hear their natural language which is cool, and you get so engrossed into the film that you don't even notice you're reading the subtitles

(well that's what i found anyway)
