    2.0 Speaker Recommendations

    Hello all.

Im after a set of 2.0 speakers and hoping someone could recommend a decent set as all i can seem to find are very much the ' style of substance ' kind.

Not adverse to gloss white finish and modern styling but would quite like some sound quality to go with it as want to run PC and Consoles through them.

    Thanks for any tips.

    Re: 2.0 Speaker Recommendations

Presume you want 'active' (ie ones with the amplifier built in)?

    What's your budget?

    Re: 2.0 Speaker Recommendations

Yeah definitely. Always normally would want a .1 system but space limits means it not possible so trying to make the best of it with a decent spec as 2.0 system as my budget will allow which is probably £70-£80 ceiling.

    Cheers

Great speakers, enjoyed mine for a few years before I snapped off a headphone connector in the headphone socket and they were permanently stuck on silent. By far the best PC 2.0 speakers I have heard, great bass considering no sub!

    Re: 2.0 Speaker Recommendations

Seconded. I have a pair of both T10 and T40 speakers, and the difference is fairly pronounced (i.e. the T40 speakers are much better), but both are excellent for their size. If you can stretch, I would go for the T40 option.

Must apologize but that story cracked me up purely because it sounds like something i would do myself!

Cheers all will invest in them. Have any of you played a console through them? I'm used to digital audio via hdmi and a receiver will these be a huge step down?

    Re: 2.0 Speaker Recommendations

what if i wanted to spend 120 ish? or would i be better with a richer sounds bargain amp and my missions wired up to the optical out?

currently got a 15 year old edimax 5.1 setup, but it gets interference when you scroll the screen.

Yes. Unless the DAC from your soundcard would be better than the one in the amp.

For interference on scrolling, check drivers and connectors/ports - a short or incorrect grounding can cause this, and it wouldn't necessarily go away with new speakers if the problem was internal to the computer.

100% its the kit, i had it on a previous pc, of which there isn't a single component employed in this build. not even the same monitor or mouse.

+1 to the Creative T40s. Best purchase I made. Absolutely love them - and good at all volumes; you don't need to pee your neighbour off just to enjoy watching a DVD.

    Re: 2.0 Speaker Recommendations

I'm using a set of relatively cheap 'Creative T20 Series II' speakers and they've been perfect for my needs. The volume on these is more than enough for movies & gaming without annoying the neighbours. I never really need to have the volume above half way and they sound good with my Asus Xonar DG (a cheap sound card, but noticeably better than my onboard audio and it features a handy integrated headphone amp ).
