    Question Advice Needed: MP3 player

    All

I haven't really thought about mp3 players for over 4 years as I have used my phone to perform that task.

However, the audio jack on my phone is busted (only get mono sound now) and I am still 10 months off an upgrade on my phone contract so I would like a fairly inexpensive media player to act as a replacement for that time.

I'm only looking for 8GB internal storage if it supports micro SD and would like it to play movies too (mp4). If it is android based all the better for some wifi connection and simple apps / games.

Budget is up to £150. Any more than that and you start to get into phone territory really. (I did consider replacing the phone with a SIM free phone but that is like 400-500 quid. Did consider the Nexus 4 but its always out of stock on the Play store)

I don't have any i devices and don't particularly want to start down that route either.

Any ideas that fit the bill are welcome.

    Kind regards

    Kanoe

Can you not get the phone repaired under warranty.

If it is a contract phone, the warranty is the same length as the phone.

As the device hardware has failed under normal use, take it back to the shop and say that ' I would like to send my phone back for a warranty repair as the headphone socket has failed'

The device should last at least as long as the contract.

I have done this with numerous phones over a good few years with Vodafone, and never had any issues. I have had the headphone socket issue as well, as well as dust inside the screen, battery not holding charge and keys not working.

Only if its water damaged, obviously dropped or suffered and impact or maliciously broken will you need insurance.

    Will save you your money.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the original phone that was on the contract was stolen 1 month into a 27 month contract. The insurer gave me the money to replace the phone with a sim free one which I did but that only had a 12 month manufacturer warranty and its 2 months over that.

That's a real shame. hope the person who stole it comes down with genital warts.

have you tried looking for someone who will repair it.

Been of Mp3 players for a while now but an ipod nano or classic might be ok.

    do Creative still make Zens?

    Re: Advice Needed: MP3 player

    Sony make an Android player:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Walkman...156746&sr=1-89

Samsung make a Galaxy player as well,

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_...=galaxy+player

Otherwise, thinking outside the box, what about a 7" tablet? Ticks all the boxes, but may be a bit big...

    Re: Advice Needed: MP3 player

Funny you should say that. I have ordered a Blackberry Playbook 64GB for the not bad price of £129.99. As a simple media player it ticks alot of boxes and video playback is good on it. Has the added bonus of micro HDMI, like my phone so i can use the cables I got to hook it up to the tv when im out and about. Should be able to access my cloud stuff as well and im not fussed about app store. (Got a Sony Tablet at home for andriod goodness anyway).

    Cheers
