    Talking Updating my Home Entertainment

Well I been working for a few months and i've finally got some money together, and i though, that a new Entertainment system would be a good idea for my bed room

so i need something that isn't too big and is worth the price its going for

Hope you guys give me some good suggestions because i haven't got a clue what to get

    Thanks

    What I'd go for:

    Loewe C3870ZWT 28" Widescreen TV = £580
    Pioneer DV656S DVD/DVD-A/SACD player (multi-region) = £300
    Yamaha RX-V540RDS Receiver in Titanium = £330

That leaves you about £300 for speakers and cables, which isn't much. Maybe then add something like a pair of Mission M74s (if you've got room for floorstanders) or B&W DM601 S3 (if you don't) for £200 and then save up another £200 for some surround speakers.

I'm actually replacing all mine, going for:

Marantz 7300 amp (actually got this)
    Kef KHT2005.2 5.1 package
Denon 2900 (think that's the model) DVD player

Currently got a 32" Toshiba 32ZP18 although I'm thinking of replacing it with the newer model that has progressive scan.

    LOL,

Martin, why spend £1500 on home entertainment???

Your only 16, next year your bound to want to start driving, why not put some away for driving lessons + a car, or if you have to spend the money, why not get something that in a couple of years time will be out of date.....?

    Ignore the unbeliever!

Hi-fi stuff doesn't date half as fast as computer equipment. A good set-up will last you 10 years.

Give some thought about what you really want before blowing your wad mate

you can quite easily pay for driving lessons and buy some nice kit

£1500 notes is a fair wedge for a first system. Spend some good money on a decent amp (Pioneer VSX-D1011, etc) and a decent set of speakers (Kef 2005) and you'll still have the best part of £500 for driving lessons, condoms, etc

I doubt that. The Pioneer is £550 and Kef have forced the price of the 2005.2 (the mk1 series suck) up. They're now £800 at Creative Audio who were previously the cheapest place to buy them (were £650). Don't forget, you can't order Kef 2005.2's via mail order, phone, online, etc so if your local dealer wants £800+ you're screwed.

So that's £1350, leaves him £150 to get a DVD player. Certainly not enough left for driving lessons. Or even condoms.

get a reallly nice digital receiver. Also if you can get one of those TV's that are HDTV ready (dunno about price) Should be future proof for years to come.
