Digital isn't allways the best togo for - it is if your going to shell out alot on speakers. But the cheaper ones they may as well spend the extra money on the actual audio components.

Something like that is probably your best bet

    G4 PowerMac - Tiger 10.4 - 512MB RAM
    MacBook - 2Ghz - 1GB RAM - 120GB HDD

Logitechs Z-680's are the best budget package cost around £250-299

I found them at Apple for £199 they don't seem to sell them anylonger but Pixmania does @ £199

Or... go to richer sounds on sunday. Open box sale, get a Denon AV reciever for £70 and a 5 speaker mission set for £50, with a sub for about £30.

Thats £150, and would blow the Z-680s so far out of the water that its not funny

Those prices are from the website about what they will have in the Bristol store btw, so go to http://www.richersounds.com/index.ph...nbox270904.htm and look at your local branch. Really is the best plan if you've got the room.

Seconded. They often do a set of five speakers for £100 at normal prices in any case, and their cheapest AV receiver is around the £70 mark IIRC. If you've got the room, they'll sound a LOT better than any 'sub + small satellite' system.
