a NAD 521BEE is a top choice, as good as you're going to get for under £200 new. reportedly considerably better than the marantz, though it is that bit more expensive.

i searched for your kenwood stereo and came up blank about it, care to give more details about? i get the feeling you won't be getting the best out of the NAD (and probably the marantz for that matter), and a cheaper player would be more suitable, unless you are planning on eventually remving the kenwood altogether and getting a separate stereo amplifier?

i personally am using QED silver anniversary bi-wire cable, fine stuff, i'm not sure which phono cable to recommend you.
