Nope, it was much nicer. In fact i don't really like the look of the new one much at all. Does not look very 'Sony' to me, more 'Fisher Price', if you know what i mean. The HD-1 is the best looking of all HDD players imo.

Wow thanks for this, as I was kinda thinking is there going to be a new one out soon, (as they jumped on the MP3 bandwagon).. I thought they'd probably bring out a new Mp3 player sooner or later..

In reply to people moaning about SonicStage, I have to say my Dad has the HD3.. And Damned SonicStage came with it!.. I have to say it was the most bloated and rubbish, piece of software I had saw, with a VERY hard navigation system and in no way was it easy to use! (It wouldn't even install on my Dad's comp, but installed on mine, but I had MANY problems and it hogged ALL my system resources!)..

Well anyways I was lucky enough to know someone who works for Sony, and he said that Sonicstage is the "bain of his life", as its the cause of SOO many problems. With this said they had no solution..

But after searching the internet, My dad came across SonicStage 3.0 but the american version (the player is shipped with 2.3).. As there is no UK/Europe version out. But WOW SonicStage 3.0 is TONS better doesnt use nowhere near as much resources, and plus it is very quick and speedy (rips a CD, adds it to library and transfers to Device in about 3-4 mins!). .I couldn't believe the difference! .. Soo with this said they could still improve SonicStage further, and when this is released they may have a newer version still which would greatly improve the player overall..

As when I first saw SonicStage 2.3 I was put off, by how remarkably uneasy and bloated it was.. But then vers 3 kind of swayed me back.. And this player looks amazing, and I will be waiting for this to come out and checking reviews etc.. As I was looking for a new player..

Here's hoping that SonicStage will be improved further.

The thing is, MP3 and ATRAC3 still isn't really enough formats to choose from. MP3 has a fairly low quality, and ATRAC3 is a very proprietary and uncommon format. WMA support would be welcome as a more widespread, quality format. OGG would be nicer still, but that isn't going to happen any time soon.

I heard about it over in the minidisc forums, somebody pointed it out and they appeared shocked too. Maybe it was an error on the page. Seems like they have made quite a few errors on these product pages for the HD3/5
