    Reducing bass levels.

    Hi.

Just got some ALtec Lansing VS2121 speakers for a friend, they have an overall volume control and a SFX (sound field xpander....or somthing) control. They are really bass'y speakers and not quite to her liking.

I was wondering is there a program that will allow me to reduce the bass levels? as the windows sound control doesnt work, and i want somthing that works globally not just the wmp10 control (i.e reduces bass while watching DVD's)

I was hoping for something like nvmixer.

    Thanks very much
    Will.

The sound driver is the only global way to change volume - is there nothing under control panel->sound->Volume advanced options?
If that doesn't work you can move the speakers (generally away from walls), or you can stuff a sock into the bass reflex ports.

Thanks for the reply, i will have a look and see if there are any drivers on the IBM website for controlling bass, as there definatly isnt one in windows, it only controls speaker volume

move them away from a wall. if they have a sub, move it away from any walls/floors if possible. this will reduce the bass effect.
