    DVD authoring

As much as I love my video camera from america, only recording in NTSC is a problem because I want to write it to DVD in PAL format (my dvd player is annoying).

    Now i have 3 options:

    1) Encode with the DVD software that came with my DVD burner, though the video gets streched vertically and looks stupid

    2) Encode with virtualdub to the right size by adding black space, then use the DVD software that came with my burner. But the sound becomes skewed and even if i get it in sync at the beginning, its wrong in the middle and correct again at the end of each clip (even if i extract the audio first then re-encode with the audio)

    3) Encode each clip to DVD format without quality or sound problems. I then have the problem that i dont know how to burn multiple DVD images to a disc and add a menu. If i try and use the DVD software i got with the burner, it streches it anyway.

Now i would like to be able to use option 3, so i need some software to allow me to use multiple DVD images and burn them to 1 disc with a menu. Can anyone help?

    Ben

PS: if anyone knows some audio tips about virtualdub that would also be a great help

Have you had a look at Nero Express it pretty much does everything you need when it comes to DVD burning.

Nero yes, but not Nero Express surely? I tought you needed the full proper version of Nero (6.*) PLUS the extra DVD plugin. But that should do it. I have converted PAL -> NTSC and vice versa with nero and never had any problems.

Just buy a multi-format player for like £40(ish)

A quick google search turned up: http://www.danslagle.com/mac/iMovie/...cks/6017.shtml

I also recommend browsing over www.doom9.org too

the way i would do it.

    1. capture dv in ntsc format.
    2. output final footage still as ntsc dv avi.
    3. using 'canopus procoder express' convert ntsc dv to pal dv
3.b. or convert ntsc dv to pal mpeg2 program stream
    4. using any decent dvd creation software ( i prefer ulead dvd moviefactory ) create menus etc
    Pansonic e50/e55/eh50 Dvd Recorders.
    Storm2 Video editing system.
    Storm Hd editing system.
    Freesat+ PVR : Sky+ HD

Try DVDLab Pro. It is very flexible and you then burn using Nero's basic burn module rather than its built-in ASPI module. It works with NTSC or PAL and isn't expensive. Everything is compiled on to hard disk for testing with a software player before burning (Nero again works best). I have assumed you use Windows in some form.
