Hi Howard,

Where I am, such a thing as a 'Hifi Rack' is non existant. This teak console table is the closest thing I could find that could *hold* the weight of all the equipment you see.

Since this room isn't the permanent HT, I'm planning on having another room designed in the house specially for this function, i.e. wall-to-wall carpeting and am thinking of having a flush in-wall cabinet designed to house all this stuff for a much cleaner look - but this is quite a 'while' away.

A rack alone isn't going to make it super neat, one would also want to stealth all the cabling and the best way to set about this is with a room that's designed for a purpose. I wouldn't want to break/mod any walls in this room as it is apart of this originial 100 year old house, with double brick walls (v thick), but incorporating whatever I need in a the new room makes more sense. besides it's bigger and will allow for full 7.1 deployment

I dont think budget is an issue, in which case i would go with the new room thats purpose built.

Not to mention, purpose built could go as far as including appropriate sound proofing/isolation. I'm sure it will be large enough to include 'leather' lazy-boys with awesome cup holders (hahaha!). I always believe in doing something 'right' or not bothering at all - but this will be an interesting side project for the next year...

what that room needs is a couple of la-z-boy oasis'. that sofa looks bloody orrible

Being in the tropics it's quite hard to have any 'proper' sofas, leather specially. The only way to make this one comfy is with large cushions. I'm gonna look into giving the new room 24/7 air conditioning, that way leather won't be a problem.

A very nice set-up only let down by your moody table. Why not build one to suit, like I did.

This is 4 years old now. Main reason was to take my 32" widescreen -- You know they are HUGE and weight a ton. Then I build a desk too





Note the little stoppers on the TV cabnet for the DVD shelves. each one holds 9, plus another 9 for the second rear row. For a total of 144 DVD's

woodL MDF and some trusty 2" by 2". Finished off with a paint N grain. Cost: around 40-50 quid.

Didnt even do woodwork at school. Its aint that hard at all. Just draw the plan and ya good to go

That's pretty sweet m8. Since my setup isn't entirely permanent, I'm gonna enjoy it the way it is - besides when I turn the lights off, all I see is the plasma tbh.
