My picture is in a magazine!

Sunday times travel magazine, january issue.
didn't win the compo but what's gutting is they used one of the panoramics I sent in and its really teeny tiny. doesn't do it any justice at all. in fact I struggle to see whats so great about the one that did win ...I guess thats a natural reaction for someone who didn't win. go take a look for yourself: sunday times travel magazine, January issue.
ho hum, at least i got in top three...
[grumble grumble, was better than the other one grumble grumble]

    next time gadget...next time

here's the one that got in:

Wow, that picture is amazing... almost seems surreal with the infinite mountain range in the distance

Reminds me of a drawing I once got in a comic book, got star prize

Shiato, would it be possible for you to release a full size copy of that photograph for Hexus users to download as a wallpaper?

Shiato, old chap, that's a stunning bit o' work there...
I'm amazed at how sharp the whole image is

bit of a quick question though, and this is assuming you used a film cam (which, AFAIK, you usually do) ~ How did you get the panoramic effect? Cropping? Stitching?

    Great stuff, well done

    Image info:
camera used = Sony P200. small but powerful. has all the resolution I need and if you know how to use it you can get pretty decent results. so far I've had a cople of my images printed above A2 and with no break up on detail/quality. Its also small so when I took it out to mountains it fit into pocket/pack no problem. Though I did take my 35mm SLR out with me, those shots are stunning! shot on slide and wacked on a wall 12ft high and still sharp, very cool!
    35mm camera is a Canon eos 1N, lenses are 100-400L, 24-70L, 17-35 (sigma), 50mm

Panoramic effect = I used autostitch (in the sticky at top of creative section). only does jpegs at present but its pretty damn good.

    shiato, thats sweeeeeet, nice one.

i'm off to mont blanc in a couple of weeks, hope i can get some nice scenery too!
thank you, and I'm very jealous! don't forget to over expose +1 cause your light meter will auto for middle grey on the snow...!
