    Infra Red!

IR filter arrived today... Only had a lil' play with it, and I think it takes some getting used to, but first impressions are good (if a little plastered with flare ;s)

cool stuff, you'll get better results in the summer when there's more IR about. this time of year is the 'lowest'...

Ok I'm now confused. I thought Infa Red was what Mobile phones have for transfering files.

    It, uh, is...

"Infra Red" just refers to light that falls within a certain wavelengths. We can't see Infra Red...

Mobile phones, and TV remotes use IR (Infra Red) to communicate with one another...

That doesn't mean that there isn't IR light bouncing about all the time, though. Most digital cameras can "see" IR light (well, all, if you remove the filter...) but you don't notice it because it's outweighed by visible light. An IR filter for a camera is just an opaque peice of glass, opaque to visible light at least, so that all the camera can then see is IR light.

The above photo is the result.

Aye, I did mean in normal photos :s

As quoted, I already said that we can't see IR, although I should perhaps have been more explicit...
