First opinions of new tripod, and a bit of IR for good measure

Right, after lurking on Ebay for a while and not having much luck, I finally just ordered the Manfrotto 190 Pro. I'd already bought a 460MG head. I picked up the tripod from Morris Photo, hadn't heard of them, but it was all fine. The tripod came quickly and very well packaged, so i'd recommend them... (Especially as prices are good and delivery is free)

So I just had to take the new tripod out for a walk today... But I also really wanted to try out the Wratten 87 (IR) polyester filter that i'd picked up from WarehouseExpress. So I cut out and slipped a filter into the rear holder on my Sigma 15-30, and was off. As I couldn't be arsed to constantly swap out the filter to compose shots, I was shooting "blind" ~ And even focus was gueswork...

As light wasn't so hot, and the 87 filter blocks nearly 100% of visible light, I was using very long exposures - 30 seconds for the best part, so a real test for the tripod.

First impressions are great though. It's very versatile and very solid. So far i'm happy with it

A quick shot of it "in action" earlier today, taken on my phone :

And a few shots from todays IR escapades. Not processed em' all yet, so may add more later

1.9 kilos, slap the head on top and it's a touch over 2

Still, I went on a long walk today, and wasn't bothered with having it on my back

Haha, dangerous business hanging your camera over water like that!

190 is a good size / weight combination, esp for travelling.

Have used one for years. Have multiple heads - use it for video work too (MN503 head)
