I should use my compact more often...

I forget how handy a compact camera can be for spontaneous, fast shots

Nabbed this today - don't think i'd have been able to get it with my dSLR.

yeah, good photo. it's easy to forget that you can get really good shots with a compact in the right situation.

good shot. yes compacts can get you out of a jam most times when an slr is just too bulky. I haven't got a dSLR just yet so the compact goes everywhere with me, and i know how to use it so its ok, but i can't wait to get dSLR for the added quality it will offer as well as being able to use it a bit more creatively...

Shot with a Coolpix 7900, which I now know inside out...

Sure, the D70 pisses all over it from a technical point of view, but I simply would not have been able to get this shot with it.

Poking a huge great bulk of lense and camera in her face would likely have ruined the atmosphere and feel of the shot.

Not to mention most people (intentionally or not) will 'pose' when you point a camera at them - in my experiance - the bigger the camera the less 'real' the pose becomes.

What he said. My sister hates having her photo taken - and as soon as she realises she's having it taken, her stance becomes very unnatural. This is the case with lots of people. I nabbed this before she even had the chance to realise what I was doing.
