Cheap Flash-Pen Style MP3 Player Required (512Mb/1Gb).... Recommendations needed!

    Hello,

I need to sort out a Birthday present for my mum, she currently has two 128Mb Philips Key 005/006 MP3 players. However the main problem is they don't hold enough songs, hence why she has two. So I'm looking for something very similar, but with much more capacity, 512Mb min, 1Gb would be good though.

    What she has currently: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=182638

Something easy to use, with a decent warranty would be nice, money wise I'm looking to spend around £50-60. Any suggestions/recommendations would be great!

I found this but no idea if it's any good or even anything about the company itself. http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/...oducts_id=1172

    Thanks in advance!

    Best Regards,

    Mark

    Is a screen necessary?

I'll start with this question because from a sound quality point of view, the Shuffle is a very good choice. But people are quick to point out it lacks a screen, which to be fair is a limitation to consider.

Not really, if it had one it wouldn't be used much. I am considering the shuffle but I know next to nothing about iPods. Do they have the same battery problems that the orignal iPods had/have?

Umm, I've tried the Shuffle, but I don't own one, so I can't tell you with absolute certainty.

But I've not seen much report of problems on on head-fi, and the following link provide some information you might find useful (the reviewer tested the battery new and four months later):

Just in case anyone err.... cares! I went with a 1Gb iPod Shuffle, I'ved tried it out to test it was working and I'm very happy with it. Nice simple design, it looks great, good value and has enough space for her songs. I hope she will like it, her Birthday is tomorrow!

Thanks for all the help and advice.
